BlessING or BlessOR?

In this world today human beings have become totally materialistic. Everybody wants a a lot of money, a fantastic job, dream house, superb marriage, the perfect body and a closet as big as a country just fill your shoes in. But for us christians do we concentrate on what God has for us or God himself? Be honest, when you pray how many times do you ask him for something? Do you set aside time just to say Thank you Lord? Ofcourse its easy to say Thank you when it's good times but when its bad times do we still say Thank you Lord? I think its vitally important for christians today to stop setting their sights on the things below and start setting their sights on the things of the above. Remember, Jesus is coming very soon so now is the time to focus only on him! I know it's hard to focus on Him (believe me I struggled with this for years!) but it's totally worth it. So if stuff and materials and even people have taken over your life, reset your priorities and focus more on what God wants rather than what you want!. So if you are in problems or troubles, try focusing on just him for a moment. Your problems eventually disappear......

I so much agree with you. There's a part of me that feels we don't have an economic crisis as much as we have a greed and selfish crisis. There is more than enough for everyone if we appreciate our resources and learn to sacrifice for the good of everyone. I am learning myslef and teaching my child to thank God for everything, even when we think things are lean. Most of the time in our poverty we are richer than most of the world. When it is all said and done what do we really have but God? What I had yesterday (the material things) I no longer have. What I do have is my faith and trust in Jesus which sustains me through all my trials and tribulations. A few noths ago I vowed that every single day I will be blessing to someone in some form and that I will give thanks everyday and in everything.

Hello JellyMonty, you are right when you say that it is not us that matters most but God. And most of us people complain everyday in our life and spend less time to just say thanks to God. I am also guilty of that, i haven't been myself lately and i am focusing on things which is not the will of God for me. I haven't been thankful enough for all the good things He has done in my life. And for all the blessings that He has given me and my family. Problems do come and go, anyway who has no problems here, we are humans , and for that we need more to depend on our maker who knows us very well. I think of myself as selfish for being focus on myself. I have forgotten that in everything we must give thanks even at the very gloomy days we have. Thanks again for your post. That i am in a race and have to go on in life even if i am struggling, i have to trust and hope for the best as i count my blessings and be a blessing to anyone. Happy mylotting!

Cheers darling.. May the Mighty God guide you through to focusing on just him. I pray that his spirit lead you all the way... As he said in Zechariah 4:6 "not by might, not by power, but by MY SPIRIT says the Lord. May the spirit of the Lord be upon all you guys and I thank God for all of you!

Yes, I do agree with you so very much so. If we remember to cast our trials and tribulations at his feet and let him take care of them, then our burdens will be so much lighter. I know this is sometimes easier said than done. But it has worked many times for me, and find it the easiest way to deal with these things. I try to find and be thankful in everything, and give him all the Glory, Honor and Praise for it.

I say Amen to that! If everyone worried about what they could do to help someone else and less about what someone could do for them this world would be a better place! I have found that everytime I give to someone else it always comes back tenfold. I try to think of others before myself and sometimes it is very hard, but it is worth it in the long run. Stay strong and keep the faith. The world needs every Christian it can get.

Good post...I find myself spending too much time online and not in the word.. I keep telling myself tomorrow will be different but this world is full of distractions and it can be really hard.. I know I need to pray more and spend time reading the Bible. Thanks for reminding me :)
