Well My fiance and I weren't going to do a registry but his mom suggested it for us. So we went to wal*mart yesterday and were having a hard time picking stuff out. We're not going to be moving out right away and some of the things we could put on there was suggested to not because of the way the house may be decorated or the way we might want to decorate the house. So, we're going to wait on some things. In any case, while it was fun to scan items it was also hard to find items to scan. Have you done this yet, or did you do this? How hard was it for you to find things? Did you go to more then one store? Were you going to be moving out on your own or staying with family for awhile?

We had so much fun doing our wedding registry. We picked items that we wanted but wouldn't buy for our self. We had been living together for about 6 months at the time and I already had all kinds of stuff from my place. Like I had a bathroom set you know the trash can, tooth brush holder, cup, soap dispenser, things but I really wanted a new set. The set I wanted was about $50 and since I already had a set I didn't want to spend money I didn't have to. That was the one thing I really really wanted. (I got it) I put towels on the registry because at the time I didn't have matching ones. We also put on it ... sheets, pillow cases, pillows, wall art, vases, photo albums, frames, gift cards (walmart has gift cards for other places and you can put them on your registery) Hope some of that stuff helps.

I wish I would have paid more attention to this post from you earlier. I know that sounds awful. I honestly don't remember if I just overlooked it or read it and then forgot about it. In the back of my head I had thought of wal mart gift cards for the registry. Well My husband and I are married, and we got a few things off the registry. We got silverware we wanted as well as dishes that we wanted. We're happy that we got those two things, and we got a lot of money as either people weren't aware of the register, or couldn't be bothered with it, or I really don't know. Hope your still active here on mylot. I am so terribly sorry it took me so long to respond back to you.

That's a really cool idea. I love Walmart for everything. My kitchen items, pans, pots, plates, etc. are essential for my everyday life. And, I get so much use out of my George Foreman counter top grill. You might want one of those. The small grill is less than $20, but you should really ask for the big family size grill so you can prepare more at once. They're super easy to clean up and last a long time. I use my grill everyday for healthy foods like chicken and grilled veggies. Best of luck with the wedding.

I'm not sure if I still own the grill or not, but I had one. As to where it is, I don't know. I think I got it from my mom and it might be back with my mom. That'd be a nice thing to have, my mother in law had one but took it to goodwill. It seems easy enough to use and I believe he has recipes doesn't he? Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else!

My fiance and I are staying with his parents but since it's not a usual culture thing she's advising us on buying things for our home. Of course we don't have a set date of when we're going to move out, if we ever do. We enjoy staying here. I appreciate the response!

I didn't do that because I was married overseas in Turkey. My sisters did do this and I think it is a good idea. That way people know what to get you. My sisters did registered at more than one store also. It took a little bit of time to decide what they wanted on the registry. But they both told me that they were glad that they did it. It made it easier for people to pick out wedding gifts for them.

I know we weren't going to do one, we don't need many things as were not moving out right away, but it was suggested so were doing the registry. Probably more difficult for us because we're not moving out right away.

This is a really good discussion, baby and I think that it will get a lot of responses because it's about something that every married couple can have to deal with if they choose to do a registry, and it can be hard to figure out just what you need for your home if you've never lived away from home, I don't think that it was hard because we were disagreeing on what to ask for, but that it was hard because we don't have very much space to store the items until we can get a home, and also we aren't sure exactly what would be proper to ask for, and what our families would get us or could afford to get us, especially since the economy is bad and affecting everyone, Although my mom is going to help us when she gets a chance and I think that will be a good idea so that we can ask for things we need and that people are more likely to buy versus things we should or can buy on our own, of course we are going to be staying with my parents for awhile until we can save up enough to buy our own place, or until we feel that we are ready to move out on our own, I love you with all of my heart and soul, have a great day, good luck with all your mylotting and the goals, and Happy Posting.

Well we got two things on the registry that we wanted. I know I really wanted the comforter but we can always get that later or find another one we might like better somewhere else. I am happy with what we got though, and am happy we got more money then anything so we could pick out what we wanted to get. I love you, Hubby!

I am not sure if you know what I mean, a wedding registry is a list of things a couple needs or will need for their home. I appreciate your response!
