Any suggestions for ab excercises for those with back problems?

I've been on a decent workout that is really helping me tone my mid and upper body but nearly all of the ab excercises involve crunch type excercises. I find these really difficult to do because I have a severe back problem and doing even a short set of 10 or so leaves me in severe back pain for well over a week. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any sites that might instruct or have videos for ab excercise that doesn't involve lying on the back or back bends? Feel free to respond or send a message, thanks in advance :)

There are a lot of exercises you can do for your abs that don't require laying on your back. Move your abs and not your hips from side to side by sitting down straight up or standing up. Also bring your legs up with your knees bent and up to your chest works the abs. Try doing things standing up and not laying on your back but try doing the same type of moves by just standing up and it will help you out and your abs should be hurting. Not sure what your trying to weigh and what your weight is now but do around 40 side to side abs rotations and also do around 20 on each leg of the pulling the legs ups. I know it is only two exercises but this should keep you going and get you motivated. I'm sure there is a lot of videos you can watch online. By bringing your legs up you should rotate your elbows to touch each leg. If it is your right knee touch your knee with your left elbow and that should also help you out. Hope i was able to help. Just watch some other videos on you tube and some dance exercises are very good to because dancing they stand up most of the time.
