how many of you use to have a cb radio & used it alot like i did. i really got into cbing for awhile. i had alot of fun, made alot of friends a& met alot of the prople i use to talk to. i had a base station at home & a mobile in my car. the funny thing to me was some of the handles [user names ] they used but i never did talk to anyone that had mine. don't think anyone else would have been silly enough to use the crazy one i picked. i had a really good time w/it. it was short fat fannie. i got it from a song title. how about y'all? did u cb??

I had a cb when I was about 12 lol, was cool, and used to have a thunder pole 3 I believe that was the aerial I used, but to be honest I had a cb for a year or so and then sold it all. Got sick of all the taxi's using the bandwidth he he he, so never really get as hooked as you did. twitter - benbo128

I must say, Antiquelady, I'm really enjoying your discussions! They all seem to be about MY childhood and teenage years! My brother was a huge CB fan, and used to sometimes take me with him in his car to the top of the local mountain to get skip. He ended up building a really powerful CB, which was illegal, and the police caught up with him one night and confiscated it! Bummer! We had a photo album for all the cards we'd swap with people we'd meet on air ... fun times!

My Dad and my older brother were big into that. My brother is blind and was really into gadgets when he was a kid and to indulge him, he usually had the latest fad. We had a base at home and one in the car. My dad was "turkey legs" and my brother was "thunder foot". We used the car one a lot when my brother was driven to the "school for the blind" every weekend. Made the hour long trip just a little more interesting!

Well I like to listen to the cb radios. My husband was into it big time and still has a lot of the equipment. We have a base station set up next to the computer. We had a cb and power amp in a car and we have about 5 cbs just laying around the house lol. I havent turned on the cb in awhile maybe I will do that today while mylotting. My husband got into it in the late 70s and continued while being a truck driver. He was a big time hobbiest before getting sick. Now he just sleeps a lot very sad. By the way I like your handle!

Fifteen years ago i was a pioneer member of a civic organization in my old hometown and i had a portable icom radio. I always had it positioned on my belt during operations and connected to an external antenna when at home, always ready on call. My handle then was ria, short for Maria which is one of my two first names. Ria was also the name i used during my short stint as a dj/radio field reporter in my locality and up to now everybody who knew me then as ria still call me by that name even after all those years that i have moved away and reverted to using my real nickname. Hello again, antiquelady, glad we had another thing in common! ^_^

Hey there ANTIQUELADY Sure I used to play around on the cb but I couldn't have been more than 12 or so. It was my friend's dad's but he didn't mind us messing around on it in the evening and he had one in his car too. My friend's handle was Snagglepuss and it wouldn't surprise you to know that my handle was Humbug!! Ahhhh those were the days!

You could say that, been a humbug a long time! LOL Here in the UK a humbug can be a name given to someone who is, umm lets say a bit mischievious or it is a type of candy or a sweet as we call them here so I can be a bit of both, depending on the mood!

Hi ANTIQUELADY. I never had a cb radio but I do remember when I was a kid my Dad and a few of his friends had them and they use to talk and meet people all over the world. If I remember correctly the higher the mast the further you can read with the signal. Would that be right ? I do remember that when they meet someone new on the radio they would send a postcard to each other and I remember my Dad having a big collection of postcard. I must ask him does he still have them. Great Handle name, by the way

It could have been a ham radio I am not sure. I must ask him, when I see him next. I will tell him to hang on to the postcards, I am sure her would still have them as tends not to throw anything away. Yes some peoples handles were fun. Yours made me smile and a very fun one
