Koi Ponds and Koi Fish

My wife and I bought a new place a while back and have been making it our own since.
Last year we started gardening in our backyard, but just a little at a time. My health has been holding me back for so long. We are moving ahead with it though and this year we are going with square foot gardening to get more out of our space with less weeding.
We also are looking into constructing a Koi fish pond but we aren't very knowledgeable about Koi fish or ponds for that matter.
What do you know that would helps us?

sadly I have no advice or help to offer since I know nothign abuot that sort of thing myself but I would LOVE to have a Koi pond on our property...I dont really know if it'd be doable though since we live in the North where winters get right nasty....

I know what you mean about living in the North. We live in New Brunswick Canada and it tends to get pretty cold here, so the Koi pond would have to be quite deep.
I think my wife knows a lady that is a great gardener. I believe she has a pond, just not sure if she has fish in it or not. I guess I better shoot her an email and ask.
