I am switching internet/phone service. For $50 a month I get phone and internet with 1 mb. for $70 a month I get the phone, a bnch of extras I don't partiularily care about anyway, but the internet is 3mb.
What's the difference with the mb's? I don't do much on the internet... email, mylot, GPT/PTC, searches and make some purchases online from time to time.. no online games or other major things... so... is there any advantage to the 3mb over the 1mb? I dont' want to go as slow as dial up.. I don't want to sit for a while while things download or upload or whatever it is doing... but at the same time.. I don't need maxium speed either! I am going through my local phone company for the connection. I currently have DSL - but I thought htat was the speed type, but find out it is only the option of being able to be online and use the phone at the same time..which is a must-have, but has nothing to do with speed.. soo....
It 2mb worth $20 a month?
Thanks for any comments! ALways trying to save a buck!

well.. high-speed internet is only useful if you really intend to utilize its full potential.. if you do activities like massive downloads (direct, p2p, torrents), video streaming, or VOIP (internet calls), then you definitely have a good reason to get the 3Mb package.. but you mentioned you're not much of a hardcore internet user so i think 1Mb is already good for you. it sure ain't as slow as dial up since dialups only go up to 56Kbps while you have DSL on 1Mbps.. and thats waaaaaayyy faster than dialup.

Thanks so much! I think I'll just stick with the 1... I don't do all those things you mention...don't even know what some of them are! Thanks for your help!

hehe.. you're very much welcome friend.
i really envy you guys coz you've got internet at those speeds at those rates.. here the only cheaper ways to get those speeds are wireless internet options.. but its already the rainy season here.. and wireless internet sucks big time during the rainy season..

I got the 1mb and it is doing just fine.. I even watch TV on the internet and it is totally acceptable... so for $25 a month I get Internet access and TV - cool deal! DSL internet and TV shows at my disposal.... can't beat that! Thanks for your info!
