This photo shows my favorite Lily I have in my garden(s). When bloomed it is a bright large yellow Tiger Lily. This bud is actually about 3 or 4 inches tall and at least 1 1/2 inches in diameter right now. It also has a few shoots growing from it as well. Do you have any Tiger Lilies growing in your yard?

I thought I had a few Tiger Lilies in my flower beds but I found out they were irises. lol Anyhow, a freecycler that came over a few days ago to get some of my perennials, brought some orange Tiger Lilies for me so now I have some even though they are only a few inches tall right now.

Mine last a long time here in Minnesota actually.
Maybe a month and a half or more I'd guess.

For every discussion you do, I learn something new in the botany world. Is that the proper word? Plants seems like a rather plain word for all the wonderful things you grow. I wish I had your talent. Heck, I wish I had a yard to see if I could grow anything that would survive after planting the seeds!

My lilies from last year are coming up, they aren't like that, though, they ave fairly short and narrow leaves and are orange with black specks. They're not flowering yet. I cleaned out the bed where they are and I've got at least five new ones!
I look forward to seeing a picture of your yellow ones!

Tiger Lilies are beautiful. I think they cancelled summer here this year. It snowed last week again, not much mind you but it was enough to cover the ground. I'm really fed up with winter already!!! I am however happy for you. Happy gargening Bob.
