Establishments certainly have goals and this is their ultimate reason in setting standards in hiring competent staff, apparently, people find age as the most typical problem to deal with. A well-experienced career person are usually those who spent time in their chosen craft, they are the considered responsible and efficient company assets, and this has been proven most of the time. But due to global crisis, most companies have to be more discreet in choosing their staff and be cost effective, and obviously, nowadays, newly graduates and those of young age are their priorities. Should this directive be justifiable or can this be considered a sort of discrimination? Opinion please....

I guess it is justifiable for large companies because it is cost effective and more manageable to hire new graduates and young age people for staff position. But for high level position such as managers; they still need to look for mature and well experienced people. However, a small company might act differently. You will find that they don't put age as their requirements for any level jobs. They only need you to have the right skills needed for the job. Based on my experience as a head in a department in a multinational company; sometimes it is hard to manage your subordinates if they were older much older than you. They tend to respond slowly and becoming less effective and efficient in their work. Since the tasks are ever growing, the impact on the company's performance is quite significant.
