Warning this is a rant...a long one at that.

Ok I am really getting ticked off here. And to be honest my feeling are more than a little hurt.I am sick and tired of Homeland Security profiling people and making dangerous statements. I am NOT a "enemy combant". I am not a "domestic terrorist". Yes I will peacefully protest. Yes I will write and call my elected officials and let them know how I feel about the job they are doing and about bills coming up for a vote. Does that make me bad? Does that make me dangerous? All those things are perfectly legal. Yet because I support third party candidates, I supported Ron Paul in the last election, I believe in states rights,I belong to Campaign for Liberty, and I am a tea party goer....Homeland security labels people like me and people like me as dangerous. And a possible threat. Well want to know something about someone they think is a threat? Here you go. I am pro-choice. I think the fact that every election year it is disgusting how politicans use women's bodies and their rights to that body as a political tool. It is degrading. If you don't believe in abortion don't have one. Leave everyone else alone and keep your nose out of other people's business. I believe in Gay marriage. It is modern day discrimination that htey do not have the same rights as the rest of us. Don't give me the whole scanity of marriage speech. HEck with the divorce rate in this country that arguement does not hold up. If you don't like gay marriage....don't marry get into a gay marriage and once again stay out of other people's business. I am pro small government. Why? Because they do not have the right to dictate or micro manage people's lives. People have the right to succeed and fail. People have the right to make their own choices for the good or bad. people are not stupid. We are not children who need the government to tell us what to think and do all the time. So basically message there is "Hands off my life. I am perfectly capable of handling it myself and I find it insulting that you think I can't". Plus by nature government is wasteful and subject to corruption. SO smaller government means less waste and corruption. I am pro states rights. Why? Because one cookie cutter federal law is not going to work in all the states. Each state has it own issues and unique circustances. So let them make laws that work for them instead of trying to force them all the follow laws that don't work for them. It is like putting a square peg in a circle hole. I don't care how hard you try....it is not going to work. I hate lobbyist and special interest groups. Why? Because they corrupt the legislative process. They buy off our elected officials votes. THey give them millions of dollars to write bills to suit them. Do tell me who do our elected officials really represent? The poeple who elected them or the lobbyists and special interest groups with the deep pockets. The politicans pay the public lip service when they want your vote. But once they ahve it who do they really represent? I say we do have taxation without representation. Because they are NOT representing us. I support third party candidates because the democrat and republican party suck. Each has forgotten their roots and the people. ALl they care about is how to get more power, how to keep the other side from getting power and basically fighting like small kids on a play ground. Each screams about the others bad behavior while doing it themselves. Heck how many bad things were done during the Bush years, that people screamed about. But now that hte dems are doing it the excuse is "well bush did it". Like that makes it ok. Two wrongs do not make a right. They are the all part of the problem. NONE of them would know what biapartisanship or fiscal responsibility was if it bite them all on the butt and then they would still ignore it while paying the rest of us lip serivce. Bush wasted tons of money and the dems have already out done him in less than a year. When will the insanity end? They are running this country into the ground and laughing all the way to the bank with it.Using fear to get us to go along for the ride. Bush used 9/11 and the fear of it to get what he wanted. Now the Dem are using the fear of the ecomonic crisis to get everything on their wish list done.Which about 90% of will NOT help the economy. But they are scaring you into supporting it. They are not better than the CEOs and fat cats on wall street. If you think other wise you are fooling yourself. I will continue to support third party candidate elections until the time comes when one of the other major parties come to their senses. But I won't hold my breath. For those of you that read this whole thing. Thank you and I am sorry. I could keep going on but I need to cut myself off before my blood preasure completely sky rockets. So....am I extremist? Am I a danger to this country? Or is the fact that I think for myself the real threat here?

A rant after my own heart! I am so tired of being labeled because I happily exercise my constitutional rights! You go!! (Ron Paul in 2012!!) I am also pro-choice and am pretty damm tired of men telling women what to do with their bodies. Personally, I don't know if I could go through with it, but I'm also not about to judge some woman who had that decision to make. It's no one's business but hers for crying out loud!! I am also pro-gay marriage. Who the hell thinks it is their business what other people do to legally protect their significant other financially or whatever? I believe marriage is in the heart, the law's version of marriage is a whole different thing, and their "definition" dilemna is a complete waste of the taxpayers' money...don't even get me started on the unconstitutional, unapportioned federal theft they call taxes. lol I also happen to agree with Dr. Paul about state government. It's the way our constitution was set up, and exactly the way it should go back to being. The fed needs to worry about their own jobs and let the states do the same. If I wore a hat, I'd take it off to ya. Thank you for the rant! --Shannon

It's not just the DHS anymore. Missouri tried it out training their cops. If you haven't been listening to Alex Jones, you might be interested in googling that situation. Orders were dispatched that anyone speaking of the constitution, civil rights, free speech, etc. were to be considered "persons of interest." It's utterly ridiculous...and very dangerous. I understand foreign troops were contracted under the Bush Administration to keep us under control if they can come up with the excuse to call martial law. These few controversial issues (mentioned above in your fabulous rant) are weapons of mass distraction to keep the public at each others' throats...too busy to pay attention to what they are really trying to pull off. I just hope this swine flu b.s. (fear mongering tactic--100K ppl die of the flu worldwide annually, this can be checked out too) isn't their excuse for martial law. Sorry, I ran off topic a bit, but it's all interrelated.

Shannon!!! commin to mingle with the common folks for a bit are ya? good to see you. anyway, yes, the MIAC report, there were about a dozen threads on it when it came out. there are some of us monitoring the side band channels for this stuff, myself, lil, and a few others, ( presonaly, I'm loving the tin foil hat crowd for the info I get from them lately, hate Jones, but love the prison planet forums) It's amazing how much the patriot movement has moved from the fringe to the main stream.

thank you. I really just hate what homeland security is doing. The people they are labeling are not monsters. We are average people. With average lives that want nothing more than to be left alone to live them and make our own choices. Homeland Security is wrong and downright dangerous if this is how they are going to behave.

Lil, people like us ARE terrorists. the government is getting terrified, terrified for their pristine little perches there in D.C. The U.S money players and world bankers are getting terrified as more of their filth is exposed for what it is. the federal government is getting terrified that states are already beginning calls for a constitutional convention that would spcificly repeal the 16th amendment. They are terrified that states like Montana, south carolina and nearly 20 other states are drawing lines in the sand and re establishing their authority in various ways. they are terrified that county law enforcement in states like wyoming have run off federal agents from their state and national parks. they are terrifiesd people are realizing exactly how it is suposed to be, how it is and getting good and angry about it. Theres an old saying among air force pilots lil, if your getting all the flack, you must be right over the target. People like us are a threat to them because we tell the truth about whats going on, we try to wake people up to it, educate and inform people and we DO NOT back down becaue we know we are just and that the stakes are higher than they have ever been. Over 200 years ago, a bunch of long haired radicals..."terrorists" began making noise and getting far worse flack then we are right now (so far anyway) and it led to the greatest social experiment in world history. We can and WILL restore that great history, by word, by passion, by proccess and if nessesary, by the swords of the states. stand strong patriot, stand strong.

"But my concern is that the government is dealing with their fear by attempting to silence and criminalize the people." I fully expected it, it's how they roll, this is how patriots are treated by those they are championing against, been that way since the thought of revolution first crossed a human's mind.

Oh I am standing strong. This was my I am ticked off and not going to take it anymore rant. We need to get the patriot act repealed ASAP and if not get homeland security shut down than at least put them in their place. They should be looking for Al Quida cells within this country....not targeting people who politically do not agree with the administration. What is going to happen when Obama's approval rating goes as low as Bush's? It will. What are they going to do then? Go after 70% of the country? Homeland security is not be used as a political weapon and that is exactly what is happening. And you know Obama, Pelosi and Dodd know about it and approve of it.

Oh my what the best discussion I have ever read here on MyLot. I have read some good ones but this has to be on the top of them. I do not see a rant but a line drawn in the sand, a proclamation of ideals. I read the whole thing three times, but I have one thing to disagree with on, why are you sorry. Nothing you said should you be sorry for. No you are not a danger, one might dare say anyone would disagree with you might be the danger to the country.

I am sorry that everyone had to read through such a long drawn out post. I ramble naturally. But when ticked off I can really be long winded. Yes it is a line in the sand. I am sick and tired of being labeled a terrorist or threat just because I am an independent thinker. just because I do not follow any party line. Because I believe in freedom.

Okay. Please don't be offended. I skimmed. But, I do agree with a lot of what you have to say. I can't side with Democrats or Republican's either. Neither party reflects how I feel. I've been thinking about posting a similar discussion but just haven't gone through with it. Do they really label you as those things? Where? Other than my rants and "debates" here on myLot I'm really not politically active, so I don't think I will be on anybody's "radar". At least not much. I appreciate your thoughts and your passion. I'm glad you posted this.

Don't worry about the skimming. It was a long read and a rambling one. Yes homeland security labels people like me "possible threats to teh country". Why? who knows. But in the reports that have come out from DHS in the past four months has pretty well labeled it out pretty plainly. Heck they even admit to being at the last round of tea parties taking pictures and copying down licence plates. Do a search engine on Homeland security and see what comes up. Or better yet...if you wnat to know the juicy stuff....search here on mylot under politics for homeland security. A lot of here have been discussing (to put it nicely) the reports they have been putting out and the profiling that is going on.

I did read the entire thing, Lil, and you hit the nail on the head with your last sentence. I agree with what you've posted and with how you feel. I, too, am considered a threat, I guess, because I believe many of the same things that you do and I attended a very large tea party down here in Floirda. My husband's DAV tag was very easy to trace I'm sure...but I don't care and he doesn't care either. The government perceives those of us who pay attention and who think for ourselves as threats because we're dangerous to their agenda. We're supposed to just go with the flow and question nothing...yeah, right.

But thinking for yourself and standing up for your rights is exact what this country was founded for. To get away from the oppressive government in England at the time. But that has been forgotten. Sorry you had to read the whole thing. But I am so mad I could spit about what is going on in this country. Bush started this oppressive mess and Obama is continueing it.

Don't apologize...your rant was great! I'm angry about a lot of things, too, and being insulted by my own government because I have a mind of my own tops the list.

While I'm on the opposite side on one or two of the things you mentioned such as abortion (to anyone who might want to negatively rate me for that, I'm sorry to hear different viewpoints don't mesh with you. But hey, we all have every right to express how we feel/our opinions), I agree with the majority of what you were saying. Like I've been thinking of becoming a Libertarian which of course is a third party. Like I'm getting to be more and more pro-small government. Let's do what our jobs are people and not micro-manage every little aspect of our lives that don't matter in regards to running the country. I doubt you're anymore an extremist or danger to the country anymore than I am for what I believe.

Then how come homeland security is profiling people like me?

There is no "our crowd".We are just a bunch of average poeple. We do not agree on everything....except the fact that our government is spending us into ruin. A lot of people did not get to go to the last one because it was during the week. People gotta work you know. Look for the next ones. Their is going to be another national one on the fourth of july if you are interested. But even if you aren't the tea party type that is fine too.

Who knows why the government does half the mess they do. It's still bad that they are though. I'm sure I'm part of 'your crowd' since I was a supporter (if that's the word to use) of the tea parties though I didn't get a chance to attend any.

Lil, you never need to apologize for having a bit of a "rant" here, after all that's what myLot is all about, isn't it? Also, never apologize for what you post, unless of course you're insulting other members which I've certainly NEVER seen you do! If someone doesn't like it they don't have to read it, right...lol? I don't think you're an extremist or an enemy combatant and I really doubt that anyone thinks that, or would think that, including the DHS. Keep on standing up for what you believe in and letting your elected officials know how you feel. We need more people to do that. Don't let the right wing pundits scare you into thinking you're being targeted when you're not. I think the media is just as guilty of using fear tactics to promote their agenda - whichever side they're on - as politicians are. The report about "left-wing extremists" didn't get nearly the attention the one about the right-wing did but it existed just the same. The key word is "extremists". If the DHS didn't "profile extremists" they wouldn't be doing their job. Annie

I try not to rant too often. I try to use mylot for real discussion and debate instead. But DHS has really ticked me off. There have been a couple of insidents were people have been harrassed by their local police for the bumper stickers on their cars. One was an anti obama bumper sticker. They not only took the bumper sticker off his car but called the FBI on him. THe other was a man with a "don't tread on me" bumper sticker which is popular with thrid party, ron paul and militia groups. Then there was the whole DHS being at the tea parties taking pictures. I mean really there were very peaceful protests. And it is our right, so why all the attention from DHS? I do think that homeland security made some dangerous and wrong statements in that report. And it has caused honest poeple to be harrassed or labeled wrongly. THey are putting generalizations on people that are not accurate. No I don't DHS will round us all up in the middle of the night. But I do think for some reason they are very interested in us.

Everyone has to vent sometime. Kudos for expressing your feelings so clearly. Rant away. I actually agree with most of it. NO, You are not an extremist. NO, You are not a danger to this country. People thinking for themselves is what is actually keeping this country above water at the moment. Keep doing what you are doing and stick by your beliefs.
