Top Cat - R.I.P.

T.C. as a kitten - We called him Steamer because he had a loud hiss

I learned today that Top Cat, who was Gizmo's brother, was put to sleep last week, the cancer in his shoulder became so bad that they finally had to do it. Now, Giz and T.C. turned 5 about the first, so T.C. was still a young cat. He was the friendliest of the 3 kittens. I feel so bad for the people that took him. They loved him a lot, and while he was the friendliest of the kittens, that's not to say he was friendly to everyone, he was only friendly to the couple that had him. But they loved him. The man said he was getting the cat to catch mice and was going to call him "that darn cat" but after just a few days, T.C. had won him over. Rest in Peace, sweet Top Cat. You're at the Bridge now, no more pain, no more fear.

He did have a sweet looking face. He was a nice kitten, and the only consolation is that he is no longer in pain.

Awwww....well at least he's not hurting anymore. And he's probably up there with my Fluffy and CatsandDogs' Gracie frolicking his little heart out. Rest in peace and happiness Top Cat.

what a sweet looking kitten, may he rest in peace..the pets sure have their own way of giving love unconditionally which can sure put the humans to shame(who are much more selfish)

he was a sweet looking boy, he was a sweet fellow too, and you are right, once he gave his love, it was unconditional.

Awwww. That is so sad. I feel sorry for the owners also. I hope they get another cat, that is half as good or maybe better than T.C. was. I hope they get a new companion.

Aww--what a cutie T.C. was and sorry to hear he's now in Rainbow Bridge. Some months ago, around February the pet rescuer told me that Whoppi, one of the kitties she took in of mine had passed away also...she was 15 years old, but had been with Amy, the pet rescuer three years...maybe Whoppi and TC are now playing together, no? Comes the day you and I pass into the other world, I think the two of us will be mobbed at Rainbow Bridge

I'm sure your right, but I doubt T.C. will be there for me, he's waiting for his people to move on - and since they are probably closer to our age, since the co-worker of the roommate's is only 30ish, he'll hopefully have a bit of a wait.

Oh {{Elic}} how sad for Top Cat, and for those that had him; What a beautiful kitten he was; It makes me very sad whenever I hear of a pet losing its life; I've got tears now in my Pink Eye, which means I'm gonna rash up since I'm allergic to my own tears...(sniff) oh well!! Rest in peace dear Top Cat!!

Thanks, jan, I'm sorry I made you tear up, I'm glad I'm not allergic to my own tears (seems about the ONLY thing I'm NOT allergic too.) Yes, he was a lovely kitten and I suspect looking at his brother that he came out to be a sleek, handsome cat like Gizmo.

Awwww... it's so sad when you have to make the decision to put a cat down. My Smokey suffered Cat Cancer. It spread from his jaw, (probably the result of a mouse or bird bone puncture) down into his stomach and he was so ill, he became incontinent and skinny. It pained me to see him like that but the pain of putting him down was even greater. I sympathise with both you and the owners, my friend, and my energies go out to your all, including TC, that he have a pleasant journey over the bridge into the other Pet World. Brightest Blessings.

I'm sure he did, and his "dad" loved him also. They'll be together when the time's right.

That is really sad. I know the family is in mourning after losing a beloved pet. We have friends in my husband's church membership that are looking at the possibility of having to put their Boxer Dog down. She has two tumors underneath her haunches that the vet believes are cancerous. Leah said they couldn't afford the treatments if it is, and aren't sure they would want to put Beans through that anyway.

really, a friend did lots of treatment for her cat, spent thousands. I wouldn't have put any of mine thru that much pain.

Awww, he's so sweet looking. But he is better off. I had a doberman that I had to have put to sleep, due to cancer, it was a very rapid spreading cancer, and I was not going to watch him suffer. Even though it's hard it is sometimes the best thing. I haven't had a cat in many years, but, I am soon goin to be the 'step-mom' to my fiance's cat, his name is Blaze, he an orange tabby, and is 3 years old. He got him from a shelter, he's a big cat, but he's great. And while we both have children, mine are grown and his are almost grown, living with their mom in another state, Blaze will make our lil family complete. I am an animal lover, so he already knows that I will spoil the cat even more than he is now lol.

awwwwww he's so cute, my fiance named his cat Blaze since he was going to be a firefighter's cat..........go figure huh? LOL However, I'm thinkin it might have been some kind of repressed feelings for me lol since when we met my nickname was Blaze, deriving from being a wildland firefighter and red hair LOL

Oh ElicBxn! I'm so sorry to hear that! That's awful.... Bless his sweet heart!! Like you said, at least he's in a better place and isn't in any more pain. He's up there with my Gracie Grace running around chasing butterflies and bugs just having a good ole time. We'll all be up there some day and they'll be at the Pearly Gates waiting for us to greet each other. Oh what a day that would be!

Thanks, yes, he's up with Gracie, and all the other babies we've lost over the years. Yep, he's up there waiting for his people, I'm sure he doesn't even remember me - it has been nearly 5 years since he's seen us.

Just thought I would drop by and say sorry to here about TC. What a cute cat, it is always sad when a beloved pet has to be put down but it is kinder in the long run, than to see them suffer.

I have to agree, I wish I could've seen him grown up, but I can say that his brother, Gizmo, grew into a handsome, sleek boy, so I'm sure T.C. did as well. Not bad considering how scruffy their mom was!

its the seasonal shift, and he could be over grooming if you are where it is going to be summer, he could also be preparing for a hot summer or just having it fall out before the summer coat has grown in

Yes it is a shame but once TC had a good home that was the main thing. You can be surprised by some of the offspring sometimes, they can grow into great pets. I have to take my cat Wilde to the vet this weekend, he seems to be losing his fur on his belly. Any ideas what might be causing it ?

I am sure Top Cat will R.I.P. I hate to hear that of course. Top Cat sounds like the name of some cartoon charter.

We didn't name him Top Cat, we called him Steamer, because when we first took the kittens in, he hissed like a steam engine at us...
