This is a shot of one of my apple trees. This is ther Honey Crisp in full bloom. The bees have been pollinating it. Is there a certain way to spray etc for worms and bugs for apple trees? Last year I had a bad infestation of worms and do not know a thing about spraying. Do you know when and what should be sprayed on apple trees to protect against insects etc?

We have a apple tree that will grow big red beautiful apples but when you look closely at them, they will all have worm holes in every one of them, its a shame. The only thing I know is that we need to spray it with some kind of fungicide spray. I found one at Wal-mart but now I can't remember what the name was, but its too late to spray them, according to the instructions on the spray bottle, your supposed to spray the tree when the leaves are starting to fall off, then once again during late winter, then one more time just when the leaves are budding in the spring. The spray wasn't too expensive, if you go to Wal-mart and look in their gardening dept. where they have all the weed sprays and stuff, you'll find it, its in a red spray bottle, thats all I can remember, I know I wrote it down, but there's no telling what I did with the paper. I think we may try it next year, I don't want to keep losing all those beautiful apples, its also good for your peach trees it says.

Thanks. After somne further research I found out they need to be sprayed right after the leaves form, before they bloom, then right after the blooms fall off or the sprqay will keep the bees etc from pollinating it. Thanks.

I was going to answer you yesterday but the site was down for maintenance...
By now, you've found out that worms don't eat their way into the apples, but
eat their way OUT of 'em because the eggs were laid in the blossoms and the apples formed around them. Therefore, you need to spray the blossoms.

Oh don't you just hate when worms infest your trees? It is much worse when you have fruit on them since you have to be sure to do something to treat them that won't bother the fruit. I hope someone has some good advice for you and something that works real good.
