What harm does an adware does to a system - Recently viewed in site PostParker?

Hey guys, while I was just posting in postparker which is a ptc site, suddenly an adware popped up, I have heard that it takes our system's info. What way is it harmful? Should I now not continue visiting that site for earning money, as the adware comes every 2-3 minutes whenever I go to other page in that site?

You can block pop-ups on your browser. Another thing I do very often is to go to internet options and delete all cookies.
