HI Efficiency Detergents are they just for front loaders

Before we got our present washer, we had a top loader, no matter if I put the clothes in first, then the detergent and then the water or whether I turned the water on first, added the detergent and then the clothes, after a time, some of the clothes became holey. Then when we got our top loader, it was recommended that we use a high efficiency detergent and the only problem we had with holes is those that had been left overs of the previous system. So I was wondering whether the hi efficiency soap that one puts in on the clothes in a front load washer before the water is turned on and is thus designed to be less abrasive then the regular detergent used in top loading washers, will also work in top loading washers and thus save many from having holey clothes.

It could have something to do with the types of detergent we use as well as the type of Washer you use to wash your clothes in as to what works the Best for sure. I know there for a while I was using detergent from a Wellness company that seems to work the best. All we have ever had since I got married is the Front loading machines but I know that it does vary with what type of detergent I use as the quality of washes as well.

I think it has to do with the detergent. We were using Tide at first, and the powder, then I switched to the Sunlight liquid. The liquid is not as hard on your clothes so it could have been that.

Wow you've got me on this one I've always used the cheapest detergant I can find and never had a problem like that - and I have cloths I've washed a million times. For the most part though I've always had a top loader so don't have a whole lot of experience with front loaders.

I use color fast bleach, and I used to use detergent with bleach because I want my whites to look white and my colors bright. I do find you get what you pay for. And I do not want to wash something everyday.

I use a top loader washer instead of a front loader washer. I know they are supposed to use less water and soap but the ones I used at the laundromat didn't get my closes as clean as the top loaders I used there as well. I never really had problems with getting holes in my clothes unless I added bleach straight to the clothes which I later learned not to do and only add after the washer was full then add it and the soap then let it agitate then add the clothes. I don't know alot about the High Efficiency washers or their detergents.

You have to use Hi efficiency soap with them as it does not lather up so much. And it also is not as corrosive.

Our sons did their own washing or helped us before we got the front loader, and they would put the clothes in first, then the soap, and then the water. Since we used cold and warm water and our clothes are permanent pressed, I usually had some of my clothes in the first, so what happened they piled theirs on top, added the soap, and then the water. Guess whose clothes got ruined? Yours truly.

I really dont think it depends much on the soap ya use as to how many times the clothes had been washed. after wyears of washing ya get holes!

I honestly have no idea. I have never had a front loading machine before. I load mine from the top.

They are more energy efficient, and the soap that they use does not have as much bubbles as the other soaps.

personally, I think its the "wringer" action of the aggitator that puts the holes in clothes

I think it has to do with the detergent. It is strong because many do not add bleach.
