People who live in europe should definitely read this story but i think that is important for everyone else in the world to be informed as well
http://www.newsdaily.com/stories/tre5443is-us-eu-animals-testing/
This news upset me, even though i live in the u.s i still am a bit of an animal activist and have the biggest respect and love for apes, that story upsets me because I feel like god only knows what scientists could be doing to those apes, yes it is important to do research for finding cures for diseases but does it have to be done to an animal cruelly? I don't want religious people to be offended by this following statement and excerpt from a book, if you believe differently like that apes are not related to us then thats your right and totally cool, i just don't want this to be a religious debate but with that said i would like to repeat one of the most powerful words that i have ever heard about apes and the way we treat them, this is from a book called "world atlas of great apes and their conservation":
"It must be stressed that in calling for measures to protect the remaining populations and to improve the care and husbandry of those in captivity....We talk of six great ape species remaining, all of which are threatened, while there are in fact seven. That six should be at the mercy of one is a sad testimony and a poor reflection upon our claim to being the most intelligent of the set" -Robert Leakey
what do you think of that excerpt? and what do you think of how it pertains to the europe ruling to allow animal testing to be continued on apes? because i personally think it is totally wrong
