no female spaces. I wouldn't mind having a quiet place to watch movies, listen to music and relax. Aren't there others out there who would want that. There are some - maybe many who may answer that the kitchen is a woman's domain. But for me that doesn't work. The kitchen is where I cook things over a hot stove, scub the floors and counters and appliances. To me its like saying that for those who are aren't stay at home moms/housewives like me and work in offices - men and women - should go to their office or retail location or wherever they work to relax and have some me time.
And yes I know for some women, being in the kitchen and cooking and baking is relaxing but not all females are inherently...domestic and for us we need a break from our jobs - taking care of the home and yes, sometimes a break from kiddoes that we adore an love. I see so many husbands who come in and sit down in front of the computer or tv when they come home because they need to relax from their day, on weekends they want the same. And boy do these husbands protest when asked to help out on weekends - yet they expect the house to stay clean and dinner to be cooked. No my husband - we live in a rental and he likes to cook his own meals. I use too many vegetables - he prefers more processed foods. Yet I do sometimes ask him to do small projects like this toy I got for my snoogs - a little horse you attach to the TV and there are learning games attached. Got it about two or three months ago and he started it a week or so after I got it but its still in pieces.
His man cave is more a space in his head he goes to when not at work - or on the computer - he loves world of warcraft. I've never been good at games like that and just don't have the time anyway witha two year old and no family around.
So how many women readers wouldn't mind your own man cave - a place to go for a break - maybe the whole weekend like some guys. Or given such a chance, would you just prefer to take the time off and go to a spa?

Since I live alone I guess my whole house is a female space..and it's nice..but my sisters and I have always taken time to just be together and spend just woman time...our sister in law joins us most of the time...and it's really nice just to have a scrapping weekend...or something simple like sitting around a cabing playing games and having a good time....someday after the little one is all grown up...you'll have that woman space....just hang in there...your time is coming!

Thanks! My mother in law is still campaigning for me and my snoogs to just move out there and I'm considering it. I'd get an apartment or townhouse in the small town of Meridian, MS which would be all mine. I think I'd miss the SW. Still, with a toddler, they kind of take over the entire house!

"A man works from sun to sun, but a woman's work is never done." I think we have to accept that and decide to leave something undone in order to find our inner "man cave." It is hard to block everything out and quit worrying for awhile to find our happy place and de-stress. Make a place and put a comfortable chair and maybe a good book or something you enjoy, accept that you cannot always get every chore done, and go to your cave for awhile each day.

I think that's great advice and you know I never knew that full quote!
I wonder though why there are so many shows - websites even books about man caves! Are there not enough women who who want that to generate interest or is that many women aren't selfish enough to ask for their very own space to call their own?
