rather die than sick

i met my neighbour just now , and he is now 82 years old , i never see him for quite sometimes and he told me he was not feeling well , he has heart attack , high blood presure , and he recently just come back from the hospital , he was telling me that he rather die then sick , he need to take many medicine aday , so pitiful.

I think your neighbour is just not wanting to be a burden to his family and maybe partly his family member had not much time to care about him. He is just a sick and lonely man who need love and concern from his family as most of the time people are too busy working.
