I was very upset with a situation today, at first I got angry and yelled. Obviously that didn't help matters any, so I tried something else. I decided to write. I've noticed that writing does two things. Firstly it gives me time to cool off, secondly it gives me the chance to sort things out in my head. So this got me to thinking.... What do you, my fellow mylotters, do to deal with your anger? I have decided that I would like to learn a few different methods of dealing with my anger, in a healthy way that benifts me and those around me. I hope that you will be able to give me some good ideas.

My first choice would be to write but then I am a writer - like you said it helps me sort out my thoughts and feelings. My next option is to garden - there's something about digging in the dirt that helps me calm down but I sure can take some anger out on those weeds :) I think a clue is to do something you enjoy to help get your mind off what caused the anger.

I keep quiet + take deep breaths with my eyes closed. I try to channel this anger elsewhere. If after doing these things and am still angry, I go somewhere quiet either to cry, to scream to the top of my lungs, or to just stare into blank space -- basically to calm myself so that I could think straight and at the same time, I'm avoiding doing something stupid and saying things that I might just regret in the end.

Well, I have found that Writing is a Great way to help with any situation. Even coming here and talking about things can help you to deal with and forget the things bothering you as well. I know that there are many times all I have to do when I find myself getting upset with someone or a situation going on in my life if I take time to Pray about it, and Write, I know in time everything is going to be alright as well.

Well when i was younger i used to have a bad temper and get angry quickly then i started to play tennis and use that as a way to take my anger out.I think doing sports or going to the gym is a good way as you burn all your energy and then have no energy left to be angry. If you dont like sport you could go for a walk somewhere to try and clear your mind i do this sometimes now if i get angry or do something i regret. I also sometimes write somthing as it gets al your feelings out.
At the moment i do any of the above when im angry and they all work to calm me down. i hope you find a suitable outlet for you to deal with your anger.
