Scripture - John 18:12 - 27
Peter was very brave and wanted to defend Jesus. He cut of the right ear of the High Pries. After Jesus was taken away, Peter was struck with fear, even denying that he knew Jesus.
When Jesus was with him in the flesh, Peter was brave. Now that Jesus was taken away, Peter was afraid for his life. Without Jesus, Peter was nothing. We are the same, we need Jesus. Without Jesus we will be overthrown by the circumstances of this world.
After Jesus was taken up into heaven, He sent His Holy Spirit, who in omnipresent, with every believer. Therefore we need not fear what is going on in this world. What can anyone do unto us if God is for us. Yes, this body may suffer, but the believer (his spirit and soul) shall remain forever.
If God is for us, who can be against us. Peter, after being filled with the Holy Spirit, became one of the most bold apostles and preached the gospel wherever he went. Later he was killed for his faith. When he realised that Jesus is the King forever, not just on earth, all his fear was gone. He then believed what Jesus had told him, that He would be with them forever, through His Spirit.
Praise God that with Him for us, we may live fearless while we await the comming of Jesus.
