Do you like cooking for tohers as well as yourself? I don't often get a chance to whilst I'm at university, I only get to cook for my housemates. I love trying out new reciepes and like nothing more than having people round and cooking for them. Tonight I'm at my parent's house so I will be cooking them a meal so they can have a break this evening! For starters I'm going to do a slection of Spanish Tapas, which I've not made before but I think I'll be able to make them fine. For main coure I'm making fishcakes from scratch with a salad. For dessert I think I might be naughty and do a chocolate fondu, as the rest of the meal is pretty healthy and I have a sweet tooth!
What would you cook if you were having people round for dinner?

I do, really. It doesn't always last into the end of the meal, but the act of making food for someone else in itself is usually something that's very pleasant to me.
It gives me an excuse to do something out of the ordinary, that takes a bit of time, thought, and effort...for someone else. It's rather special, even if it's not always appreciated.

It is memorial day here so we are doing burgers on the grill. I mostly cook simple meals because that is something that I am good at and something that I often take the time to make. I do like to cook and have fun planning meals and making them. I do enjoy cooking for others, but cooking for more than a few people can really be exhausting. I just like to cook for small groups.

I am not a cook and I don't really enjoy cooking, when I lived with my housemate I was fortunate in that they could cook and when we had guests around they would always volunteer to cook, and I would happily wash up. The only two things I like to cook which are pretty basic are bolognaise and omelettes, so if anyone came round and my housemate was out then that is what they had! Mind you I always got complimented on my bolognaise because apart from the meat it was all prepared by me. For dessert I would cheat and buy one from the supermarket, or have sorbet which is nice and light after a big main meal.

Hi Beki, how nice of you - it's really a lot of work, cooking for others!
I really hate cooking for others. Inviting friends and family members to my house is fine - I usually cater or order food; but to cook for them is really a big effort for me, mostly I can't cook well and I also don't like to cook!

I myself am not a cooker or even a good cook but I do my best with what I am given, both ingredients, tools and skill. I have actually cooked food for my family and what I usually make is pasta with salad. I would love to learn more recipes and make things that my family and I would enjoy eating.
