Who is Raul? Or whatever his name was....

I wasn't watching during the Billy/Mac years... just read about it.. but who is this Raul that showed up at Kathrines picnic and he and Mac sucked face and then the previews said he was in love with her. He and Billy knew each other but who the heck is he? And is it real? Or did Mac just "hire" him to play the part so Billy would leave her alone? Give me the scoop, fans!

Raul and Billy were good friends when they were teenagers. Raul and Mac were friends and may have dated a little but weren't that serious as far as I can remember. Raul's main squeezes were Rianna and later Brittany. Hopefully the affair is "real"...Billy and Mac revisited was leaving me pretty bored so this turn of events spices things up a bit. While Raul and Rianna were a bit of the Cane and Lily of their day (NOT a dynamic duo, in other words), Raul did have some interesting moments on the show. David Lago did a good job portraying a character with diabetes as I recall. I think he could be good in this role even if he is being set up to lose Mac to Billy just because they're "soulmates." I'm glad that Raul is being played by the original actor -- JT is the only other teen from that generation still being played by the same person.

It is nice when they bring back the same character isn't it? I wasn't watching duriong that time, but remember reading the recaps of the shows and I remember thinking that show had more to do with teenagers than adults.
But interesting to see something new going on now tho! Maybe theywill relieve us from the depths of HE double hockey sticks they have put us in with Sharon!
Things are rather slow right now on the show...kind of like everything blew up and now there is nothing to work with! SO they make Sharon get preggo.... like we even care about that! You know it will turn out to be Niks at first and those two will hook back up only to find out later that the DNA test was wrong and it is really Jacks... or Billys. And since they don't give JAck a homelife.. it will be Billy's and he and Chloie will split and Billy and Mac wil marry thinking they can have the baby and okay, story over.. can we move on!!!

The teenagers were way more important back then compared to now. Of late we've been seeing Noah and Eden about once a week and Abby once every couple of weeks. I think I way overrated the Mac and Billy storyline back then -- I've watched lots of clips of them on YouTube since and pretty much wondered every time, "Wait, what was so great about this again?" They were good (and I think the storyline now would be way more interesting if we had Ashley Bashioum and David Tom playing the parts of Mac and Billy), but it's actually Brittany, Colleen, and JT who impress me the most from those years when I watch them now.
I agree with you that the show seems to be entering a slow period. There's one storyline I'm really interested in right now, and that's about the mystery woman. There's a good chance she's Patty Williams (a character waaaaaaaaay before my time...I would've been a baby when she and Jack were first together) so I'm pretty interested to see if Paul will figure out her identity, if Victor will be able to use her to attack Jack in some way, and if she is going to absolutely lose it and do something crazy. I was also interested in the Ashley storyline, but I heard that the actor who plays Adam is leaving so that might not turn out so well. I think the storyline was actually more interesting before we knew for sure that it was Adam anyway. Your predictions about Billy, Mac, and Sharon are quite probable, sadly. Hopefully the writers will avoid being that predictable, but I wouldn't bet on it!
