When you do a major household move and you will be moving rather far away, how do you manage the carpet steam cleaning and the major appliance cleans?
With a house full of boxes and furniture, how do you get around it all in order to do the job?
I have thought of room to room, shifting things from one to the other.
I have thought of piling everything outside but what if it rains? What if there are intruders, rather trespassers in the night etc?
How do you go about doing the major cleans when moving from a rental property?

I would get a cleaning company in to do it. Firstly because I just would not have the time or the energy to do it properly. Secondly, by getting them in I can make sure they do a proper job. Last rental I moved out of I left my house mate behind. He left himself several months later and lost the whole Bond of $720 because they charged him the full amount for cleaning fees....no way it would have cost that much but he was in the next state and not about to go back and fight it.
Good luck with everything.

You can only clean the carpet after moving out.
So if you are moving far away...
The best option would be to leave some money with the real estate to deal with it.
That is what most people would do.
Otherwise you need to stay behind while who ever is with you goes at the other end to receive your furnitures when they arrive.

Hi Aussies, thank for your response. i actually cleaned everything including the carpet. I did all cupboards, counter tops, fridge, stove, windows and tracks, light fixtures, switch plates and bathroom. Nice. I managed to just move everything into other rooms that didn't have carpeting in order to get the carpet steamed cleaned.
I cleaned all the rooms before I loaded them with stuff. Actually worked out pretty good.

For me it's easier to move somewhere close enough that I can move into the new place and then return to the old one to clean. When moving a long way I had to move out and then pay someone to clean after we were gone. This is another good reason to use a Real Estate person, they can arrange all this and make sure the results are what you paid for. If you are a renter and are moving far away sometimes you just have to forfeit the cleaning deposit. You just clean the best you can at the time you are there.

This is true. We did not go too far away. 60 miles or so. We do have to go back to do the other apartment that we have two months to clean. Wont be too bad. I cleaned my place before I moved everything out so it is cleaned already. Nice. Well, thank you for your response. We were renting so no real estate person is involved at these properties. Cheers.

My best advise is to try to move things on top of counters and onto the tile or wood floors so you can clean the carpet. Hopefully there is enough space for you to do this. The other option is to leave some of those big cleaning things until the day of the move. while some people are putting stuff in the truck, you can be steam cleaning carpets and appliances. It makes for a more hectic moving day, but at least it's not so cluttered.

Good point as "clutter" is the problem. I like the idea of using the carpet-free areas and will look at how I could manage that. This could work! Thank you for stopping by. Cheers.

just put everything into one room then do all the other rooms then move it into a different room while you clean the remaining room, saves time too as you arent moving stuff fro one place to another all the time! I really hope this helps you!! =D

Thank you angelsmommy, i shall try this idea and thank you. I really don't want to be moving it all more than I have to, that's for sure! Cheers.
