I feel we are to trust more in the wisdom given us by God than in the word

If it is true that God has given us wisdom, then we have to trust that wisdom even more than we trust in the so-called words of God like Bible or Koran. To say that it is faulty to have faith in our own wisdom is a statement very absurd because wisdom was given to us by God. If our wisdom says that such and such a book is not the word of God, then there is nothing to argue. That book cannot be the word of God, at least not for the individual concerned. For God must be knowing the right path for each individual. If he says that to you, the Bible is the word of God, then it is (But only to you) and if it is not the word of God to me , then it is not , as far as I am concerned. This may seem to be confusing, but it is far less confusing than God inspiring a book to be written which later tends to get interpreted in one hundred and one different ways. If my wisdom says something and yours says something contradictory, then it only means God is fond of variety. Each flower is unique.

"You cannot know God until you’ve stopped telling yourself that you already know God. You cannot hear God until you stop thinking that you’ve already heard God. I cannot tell you My Truth until you stop telling Me yours." "Words are merely utterances: noises that stand for feelings, thoughts, and experience. They are symbols. Signs. Insignias. They are not Truth. They are not the real thing." --CWG

Yes, we are all unique. For those who box themselves up with a religious book of any kind, you have to remember. God is so much more than you can find in any one book!!!! Next, WE ARE MEANT TO THINK!!!!! God will always add up. If it doesn't, it's man or you just do not understand God. Everything in religious books will not add up. That's because man is involved.

This souds like a very inteligent discusion. I figure you as a very inteligent person, well educated and open-minded. I am not very wise when it comes to philosophy and things that require my brain to work overtime, maybe I am just to lazy to use my brain for all the big thinking stuff, lets say i take everything and try to think like a child would. That make it more understandable for me, as it is put in simple terms. Please allow me to refer to a Scripture from the Bible. I know you said that one should trust wisdom more than the Word, but I find some wisdom in the Word as well. I suppose with the wisdom of each individual we can use that wisdom to differ in our aproaches and in our way of learning to expand our wisdom. I want to qoute from the Bible, if I may, from 1Cor.1:18,19,25. 18"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength." If you wish you may read verse 18 - 25, it is very interesting. We as humans will never be able to comprehend the greatness of God as long as we do not surrender to Him and allow Him to reveal Himself to us in the way that He thinks best. I am not Bible punching, I am just giving an opinion on your discusion from my point of view. Hope it is OK, because we do differ in our viewpoint, as you said, each flower is unique. Many blessings

each one of us is unique, that is the beauty of this life. we should have faith in our own wisdom that something external to us or something which we cannot experience in real life. no book is the word of any god. so many repulsive thoughts in those books cannot be god's, but that of a bigoted man. god gave us brain to think and differentiate good and bad things.

I think that we should use Gods word and our own wisdom together especially if we are having doubts about what our own wisdom is telling us. God does have a unique relationship with all of his children, he talks and gives us all wisdom in different ways. He will reach out to us and give us wisdom in a way that will be benifical to us. For one person that may be just trusting in his or her gut, for others it may be reading his word or a book inspired by his words and teachings. We need to learn from both.

Interesting concept. I agree that we all have the wisdom to differentiate between right and wrong. If you follow your instincts and always try to do what's right, you can't go wrong. However the bible/Koran can be a significant tool in learning how to use that wisdom wisely so to speak. The bible/Koran should be a guide in people's lives. I don't think of the bible as a strict voice of God that should be taken word for word. I like to read the bible as any other book where I extract the important themes and messages. I then take those themes and apply them to my life and my situation. This helps me make the most righteous and logical decision. In the end, I think people should have a balanced combination of the wisdom God gave all of us and the guidance from the Bible/Koran. You can never go wrong with a little balance in your life. -John
