Scripture - John 19:6-16 Pilate wanted to set Jesus free because he could not find anything that He could be charged with. Pilate did not want to give the command to crucify Jesus because he realised that there must be some truth about Jesus and what He said. Jesus told Pilate that the only authority he has over Jesu is that which is given him from above. When Pilate heard this he was filled with fear, we can call it a Godly fear, because He was convinced of what Jesus said is the truth. Then the Jews told Pilate that if he set Jesus free, he would be no friend of Ceaser. Pilate was filled with more fear because he knew the consequences of not being a friend of Ceaser. Pilate stood before a big choice. He had to make a descision now. He knew in his heart what was the right thing to do, but he also knew what he wanted, the friendship of Ceaser. Pilate chose his friendship to Ceaser above what he knew was the right thing to do. He only thought of the short term benifits, not the long term concequenses. How many time do we stand before a choice. Do we consider the long or short term concequenses of our decisions? Sometimes the presure is so stronglyupon us that we choose wrong. Many fall under peer presure. We want to be with the group, not against because of popularity, fear of rejection, or some other reasons. Sometimes we make the wrong choice for financial gain, when we know in our hearts that it is wrong. Next time when you have to choose, think of who you are choosing for. You either choose Jesus by chosing that which you know in your heart is right before God, or you choose evil, that which is wrong in the sight of God. As Christians we have to think long term gain, not short term pleasure. May you all recieve wisdom to make the right descision. Blessings

If I decide not to chose Jesus that decision is not necessarily wrong or evil. I am not a Christian so Jesus does not enter into my discussion making process. I chose to make most decisions based on the words of Confucius who said, "Look into your own heart. Discover what it is that gives you pain. And then refuse to inflict that pain on anybody else."

Thank you very much for responding. I am writing these devotions from A Christian point of view, with the Bible as referense. You do have the right to disagree, but for Christians this is ment for isoiration. May you be blessed.
