Scripture - John 19:38 'Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jews....' When we read that Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but because of his fear for the Jews, he did not reveal himself as a disciple, it is easy for us to say;'If he was a true disciple of Jesus he would have not cared if the jews knew, and he would take what comes his way because he is a disciple. On the other hand, we do not know much about this Joseph. He might just as well have been a high placed member of the comunity, or a rich traveler, spreading the news about Jesus and making more disciples where the Jews did not know of. We cannot judge him on account of this one verse, only hearing one side of the story. This is also true for our daily living. How many time do we only hear one side of a story and then judge the person being talked about based on the little information we have. For us as Christians, we must always try to keep our sides clean, and not be quick to judge. Only God knows the full truth, and only God is rightious in judgement. Let us leave it up to Him to judge. As far as we are concerned, adn for the sake of our trustworthy testimony, let us try and live in peace with all people. Let us always believe the best of everyone. Many blessings

Hi Beertjie...and what you say here is so true. We as humans tend to decide if a person is good or bad on what we hear about them instead of getting to know that person and judging for ourselves his worth. Jesus is the only one that should make a judgement on people and we should leave him to his work and as you say see the good in people not the bad. flutterby

A quotation from Bertrand Russell seems in order here; "No one gossips about other people's secret virtues." If you know a person only from what others say of them you will rarely know of their virtues. What you have stated here is a wise thought for all people, not just Christians.
