I was looking on web for something that will iincrease computer memory. I was wondering what is a memory module....It sounds like memory. The problem is that it also says it requires 1gb why would memory need to take up memory? Do you know how it works? Hope someone can answer this very appreciated.

This is usually known as RAM and comes in several forms. The motherboard will support a certain type of memory, so do not try adding the wrong type or it wil not work. You need to check the motherboard manual to see what type of RAM it uses, then check to see if you have a spare DIMM socket on the motherboard to fit it.
Much of the double data rate memory requires fitting in matched pairs to make use of the system properley, so try to be careful and avoid wasting good money.

You're right my friend.. When I wast just a beginner with computers, I added a RAM to my old computer and it has a 256Mb DDR400 and I added another 256Mb but it's DDR667 and after a few days using it.. Both of my RAM were damaged and that's the time I saw the frequencies were different!! hehe but still I've learned from my mistakes

I would imagine that we can all recall horror stories from the early days. I once bought a soundcard and noticed that I had a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager, which was due to the game port drivers not being loaded. There was no spare IRQ for the drivers, so even though I was not using the game port I decided to manually assign an IRQ. In my stupidity I chose to share the IRQ with the PS2 ports. This immediately took both my mouse and keyboard offline. Fortunately I had a serial mouse at hand so I could undo my mistake.
One of the great things about Mylot is that we can help to save others from learning the hard way.

the easiest way to increase memory is simply to add a new memory module to your computer. that is what they call RAM. depending on your computer's motherboard you could put up to 4GB or more. by the looks of it you'll be better of asking the store about what to do from there.

Hi..
It's called RAM(Random Access Memory) and it means that information can be retrieve and store by the at any order. It is also a place where processing of electronic data temporarily allocated.
Most of us think that the speed of the processor is the speed of the computer but not all components run at the same speed. If you have a faster processor and a minimum of 1Gb memory, it can dramatically affect the overall performance of how fast the information can travel between the CPU and memory.
If you don't know how to change or add RAM to your PC, ask for a computer technician..
