This photo shows that one of the 3 seeds I planted of the giant pumpkins finally sprouted this week. I am hoping to get at least one decent sized pumpkin from the seeds. I hope I planted it at the right time and not too late. So did you plant something new this year in your gardens?

We didn't have room in our community garden bed for the pumpkins that we started from seed. We did place it in a sunny spot at home. I don't know if the plants will produce anything because it isn't in full sun. Just planting a veggie garden is new for us this year. It will be the first garden I have planted in over 11 years.

This is my first vegetable garden as an adult, so everything is new to me! I planted squash which I hope comes up. Also my lettuce is coming up and I think it's broccoli that's doing so well. I made a map of the garden but lost it!

You live in a much cooler climate than I do, and I could still plant pumpkins and squash here for a couple more weeks if I wanted to. Pumpkins need the soil temperature to be above 50 before you plant them, so you'll probably get a good harvest out of that vine.
I wish I had the gumption to try just one more time to raise a garden, but this soil has defeated me several times. I'm slowly building it up and getting some hardy plants to grow, but veggies just require much better soil than I have.

Yeah Minnesotas growing season is short. From the end of May till Early September usually. Kind of sux when I want certain things growing. Oh well. I make my own compost and add it to my soil; each spring before planting. This has really sone wonders for my soil.

I hope your pumpkin seeds do really well also. We just planted the same old things this year but we really like everything we planted. We planted leaf lettuce, tomatoes, and alot of green onions. I was going to plant some peppers but changed my mind.

I didnt plant anything new this year...Just the typcial potatoes, carrots, corn, peas, leaf lettuce & dill, radishes, sunflowers and pumpkins.
My garden however this year does have about 4 or 5 extra rows of things (total not each) because my mom didnt plant a garden this year as they had major chickweed issues.
I just planted mine this week - finally a week where it hasnt frozen over night or gotten close to zero!
