I did it a month ago and I'm never going back to my microwave. Yes, there is things that I can't heat up in there but I found all the things that I couldn't heat in the toaster oven heated up so quickly in a small saucepan. It taste like my food is better never mushy and I hope to start actually using my big oven more regularly now that I got over my phobia. It turned out to be not time consuming like I originally thought, and i have two kids. Think you could do it?

but what if you want some popcorn? you cant pop it in a toaster over :) why cant you have both? what i most of a microwave it that you can warm the sauce up inthe dish that you are serving it in . .and I also love the way you can steam vegetables! But I hate to warm up a piece of pizza in a microwave .. There are just some things for the micro and there are some things for the oven .. .

No, you can pop your popcorn on the stove, I do it all the time for my kids! You just open whatever bag of 'microwaveable' popcorn you have, I scrape out all the butter with a fork or knife stir it real quick in the pan and cover it. I was really suprised it doesnt burn because I have had so many scorched bags from microwaving. I just stir it off and on and it takes care of itself. The reason I tried this is because my family grew up using one of those electric air poppers and I remember they used to have thos alumminium trays for popping popcorn on the stove so I thought, well why not! Once the pan starts popping (use big saucepan for best results and quick popping) it only takes 3-4 minutes no different from the microwave.

wow revellanotvanella . .I never thought of that. I knew exactly what you were talking about too but forgot too when I was little that we used to pop it on the stove! Great suggestion and I must pass it on to my friend who just called me complaining her microwave broke . . and the kids wanted pop corn last night . . and with today being one big rain day I bet those kids are going to want to watch a movie and have some popcorn with it!! Happy MyLotting to you!

Personally, I prefer the microwave. I don't really like the oven toaster because heating food is a bit difficult and the toaster tends to get messy after a while. It's not easy to clean as well. However, in our home, mom constantly tells us not to use the microwave for health reasons. Did you replace your microwave with an oven toaster for health reasons as well?

No, I would not replace my microwave with a toaster oven. I use it for doing a quick steam on veggies, for my popcorn, for defrosting meat real fast. Microwaves are safe, they are not radioactive. They use electromagnetic waves to heat food. Very different thing! Yes, a microwave gives off radiation but not the kind you are thinking of - you get exposed to the same type of radiation from visible light, radio and tv waves.

I don't want to replace my microwave oven with a toaster oven. I think microwave oven has much more features that I need. And it spends less time. I love China

Yea, microwaves definately help with that time issue. Hopefully in the future they will have bigger toaster ovens (that dont cost a fortune) that can replace microwaves and your food taste like oven baked food. I did hear 4 years ago that convection ovens heat a lot faster then they used to by changing the way the air is distributed but don't know what its called.

I love my toaster oven but I'm not giving up the microwave without a fight! I do use my regular oven as well...and the grill...but sometimes time is short, we're hungry so the microwave it is.
