OMG does anyone else have this part shade perennal???
I just did some homework for part shade plants and went to my garden center to see what I could find. May I say it's got very long slender stems & perfectly porpotioned bluish-purple flowers and what really get me is.....
it smells like grape Kool-aid! My hubby thinks I"m nuts but when the wind is just blowing so you can totally smell them off the front porch.
Do you have any? What do you think they smell like?
& a real gardening question do you cut yours down in fall or let them fade away in fall and trim them down in spring when the old stems are beyond dead and easier to cut?

no-but if it smells like grape kool aid i want one!
it depends on the plant.i cut back the roses and the raspberries usually.
that way it's not all over the place next year.

That's the only smell I can compare it too is grape koolaid. IT's sooo nice I mean it carries it's scent in the wind and other than lilacs I haven't experienced that with any plants thusfar.

I don't have that but it sounds wonderful. I didn't even know what it looked like so I looked it up and it's very beautiful. I do have some sort of weed-like vine I have to keep fighting or it takes over everything. It is based under my porch so I can't get to the roots to kill it. It has red berries on it and is quite lovely--also purple flowers but I don't think it's like yours.

That's always flustered me a lil as some you should do right away when they start to fade others not to.
