I was at the grocery store earlier purchasing soy milk. I wanted two bottles chocolate, and vanilla. They only had chocolate. A customer pick up three boxes of Almond Milk, and I ask her if it taste good she proceed to tell me soymilk affects your thyroid. She said it can cause goiter. She said she is a RN, and has read studies about this adverse effect. I purchase the almond milk, to give it a try. Have anyone ever heard this? A coworker told me also awhile back soy cause cancer. These are probably false.

I have read that soy products do have a negative effect on our thyroids. Mary Shomon, of thyroid.about.com is adamant about it. Others have also said that the use of soy can cause "diet induced" goiter.
I have read that it has a psuedo estrogen that can confuse our bodies if we use too much. I don't know how much is "too much," though.
