when I was in the USA last February. I love it. It makes me feel slim so of course I love it.
It is made of a white crinkly material that tlooks like cotton and alsmost feels like cotton but it is made of polyester. The make is Faded Glory. Yes, it was cheap but I love it.
The problem is that the white is no longer white and according to the washing instructions I cannot use bleach.
Can anyone help with any ideas to whiten the white?

SINCE I don't follow directions well i would probably put it in a light bleach water & see if that didn't help. I don't know of anything else that would hekp. I use bleach in alot of things. There are detergents that claim they have bleach in them but i still add blrach to my white clother, towels etc. GOOD LUCK, HOPE U ARE HAVING A NICE DAY. JO

Thanks Jo. I'm going with the soaking in lemoins and hot water with detergent first and then I will resort to bleach. What the heck? I can't wear it anymore as it looks so dingy

There is a washing detergent that claims it whittens and its not bleach. I don't remember the name of it but have seen it in commercials. I'd use that...if you can find out what it is.

Oxi clean claims it cleans darks makes them brighter and makes whites whiter, you just add it to your regular detergent...a cap full.

I have never seen or heard of anything like that before. I think you would still be able to use colorsafe bleach when washing it. Colorsafe bleach is alot safer than actual bleach.

Lemon juice, vinegar, or dish detergent. Good luck!
Lemons are a natural way to whiten clothing and linens. Let your clothes soak in a sink basin with hot water and lots of lemon slices for an hour or two then launder as usual. Another option for more dingy clothing is to boil water, turn off the heat and add the clothes in a large pot with lemons. Then, let them soak overnight. You will not only get your garments white they will smell lemony fresh as well.
Dishwasher detergent is another great whitener for your laundry. Add about ¼ cup dishwasher detergent to your whites and wash them in warm water with your regular detergent. The whitening agent from the dishwasher soap will work its magic and you will have clean, bright whites as a result.
White vinegar is another whitening alternative. Pour ½ to 1 cup of white vinegar in your white clothes along with your detergent. The vinegar will not only whiten your clothes, it will help clean out any residue from other detergents or soaps, and it also aids in softening your fabrics. You may get a faint smell when you open your washer, but after you dry your clothes, any trace of vinegar odor will be gone.
One more idea that was used quite often before the invention of the washing machine and chemical cleaners is old-fashioned sunshine. While this method may not be as powerful as other whitening methods, it was used quite often by pioneers and early settlers. Sunlight helps brighten whites and keep them smelling fresh.

Your knowledge is just amazing. I should have remembered the sunlight. Wehn I foirst cam eto this Island the women would wash the clothes and leave the soap in thne and then spread the clothes in the sun to whiten. I had forgotton this. Many thinaks and now I have to grovewl and beg pardon as I posted twice! As you can see - no spell check yet. I don't have lemios but I do have lime juice so this should do it
