In Mylot, there are some that post discussions quite often. And last night, I was thinking about the type of posts that I make and some of my close friends on here make as well. And that got me to thinking, out of my friends list, who is an external poster and who is an internal poster? Let me explain what I mean.
There are some of us that post every day, and out of those, each tends to lean towards one way or another as far as the topics. By internal poster, I mean those that post about their day to day life on here, like ersmommy. Daily we see incidents that she has had with her daughter, her new son, or even her husband.
On the other hand, there are external posters. They tend to post about issues outside of their life, or asking for the opinions of others about something they saw or heard. A perfect example of this type of person is CraftyCorner. I rarely see her post about herself, but she always posts many topics about things in the news.
Me, I kinda straddle the fence. I will talk about some of the issues in my life, but not all the time. Maybe its just me, but I don't think my life is that interesting to post about day to day. I also post about things I see on the news, or things I happen to see as I go about my day, if they are interesting enough.
So everyone, what kind of poster are you? Do you post more about your life, or more about current events? Why is that?

I think I do a bit of both. Usually I'll be thinking about something and wonder if other people think the same way, or sometimes I think of a discussion because of something I've seen and wonder what other peoples' thoughts are about it.

That's what I do too, and there are many days that I don't post a discussion at all. But I am trying to get better at that. I try to post a discussion at least once a day.

I started off trying to do that, but I've slowed down a lot now. I sometimes go a week without starting a discussion, then think of three things at once.

First off let me say that in the p[ast two (2) months I have not been really doing much here for trolling reasons. I've lost points, earniongs, and discxussions of mine have been deleted. Why? Noone knows but the reportes of them. Anyhow, when I post it is 90% about my gardening and all my garden beds, flower beds, and the fruits that I grow. I also post about my family as well. I post about my life and my life only to avoid being attacked. Especially lately. If and when I get on here. Thanks for this opportunity to respond and read others comments as well.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Yeah, although I don't respond to most of your discussions because I'm just not interested in gardening, I don't see how those would have gotten you a troll. I have never known you to speak harshly about anyone. But, people are offended by different things. Maybe people don't like the way you grow cucumbers lol.
But I guess speaking about gardening and your family are safe topics. How can someone be offended by the strawberries getting ripe and your new granddaughter. I hope that the troll gets bored with you real soon, and that you keep posting.

I post about my personal life, but only when I am looking for advice or opinions. Actually, I don't start a lot of discussions, I like answering them better. Guess because I can't think of anything to say. LOL! I don't think about writing about a news story, not very often. I do like to share information with people.

Usually that is the case with me. I respond to way more discussions than I post. But for some reason here lately I have been coming with a lot of ideas. Its been since forever that I could come up with a discussion a day. I don't mind posting about my personal life, current events, or information about certain things; it's just that I rarely think of anything to say lol.

Its easy to straddle the fence. Sometimes there are events in life that you want to share or get opinions on, and sometimes things happen outside of your inner circle that you would like to talk about. At least that is what happens to me.

Yeh, I like to mix it up alot. Sometimes I intentionally stay a little distant and private, gravitating toward big theoretical dicussions or politics, but I also occassionally have great ideas based on my day. The latter are usually more popular. I think many here appreciate it when you share a little of yourself.

Yeah, I've noticed that those that tend to post more about their personal lives seem to get more responses in their discussions. I guess it does some good to allow people from MyLot into a small portion of your life, it makes you seem more human than just some words on a screen with an image next to it.

i think both in many cases but i tend to be an external poster i think!!Such as normally i did not post very much about my private life and so on.normally when i open discussions or even answer to others i tend to share my opinion among different topics but i think there are few times i am speaking in particular or private life may be i can tnd to shae some experiences when i see some discussions but i think if i will count that i will result from your definition a quit of external poster!!

Oh, I am sure I straddle the fence as well. I am more external than internal, or at least when I write about myself it is more about what is going on in the public part of my life, not my private thoughts and happenings, too much. I seldom start discussions, but seem to be doing it more just recently. I do like a good mix.

I think i tend to post a lot more external conversations. I ask questions and bring up issues, but I don't get really personal here on MyLot. I guess it's because I can't delete something on here if I change my mind, so it's safer not to get too personal in the first place. I have some other sites where I will be more personal, but I have more control of my own content on there.

I am more of an external poster. I perceive life around us are always more interesting than our own life, and hence make good discussion topics. I try not to internal post as it would make me more conscious of myself, the attachment of which I am trying to detach.

This is a great and thought-provoking question. Kudos to you for coming up with it!
I'm probably a mixture of the two: both internal AND external. I tend to start discussions about things that are slightly relevant to my own life, but I don't use myLot discussions as a medium in which to rant about my daily life (OK - maybe every once in a while!) and I certainly don't write discussions that seem suspiciously like blog-entries. I think I am similar to you in that I don't really talk about myself in detail TOO much; my life just isn't interesting enough to start multiple discussions per day about it.

I'm definitely an external poster as I do not post about personal life but lives of others and news and stuff. It's very interesting what you've thought if because I've never seen this before. I post more about current events and I'm a very informative poster. I don't like to share my personal life especially to people I don't know. Even if the site is full of masked people.

I tend to do a little both.
I try my best to contribute and at the same time ask about current events or about what I need suggestions about.
I just really enjoy mylotting with mylotters. Many of them give out their personal experience to help you figure things out or understanding stuff more.
I also like to involve myself in discussions I started as well so that I can give feedback and thank the people that try to help.

Hi drknlvly, I think I external poster, because I like others' opinions. You said at your life is maybe not so interesting, but from you posts your topics are sure interesting, i.e., bovine emissions, etc. I also try to add a bit of humour to my discussions and comments, it helps to break the ice, and helps people maybe feel at ease here. Thanks for listening.
