We're going to be debt free in 3-5 years

We finally made the decision to be debt free. The only downside is we went through a debt settlement company. There's no way we would have made it on our own. It's not just a bad thing, except we're going to have to listen to phone calls from the creditors until things kick into gear. I'm almost tempted to cancel our landline, or something, until then.

Congratulations! Personally, I have never really been in debt... I have borrowed the odd hundred bucks off family and paid it back in two weeks, but never had credit cards or personal loans or anything like that. I do want to buy a house sometime soon, which will probably put me in debt for 20 years :( Anyway, I'm sure it will be great for you in 3-5 years when you get to start building your savings and actually enjoying your income instead of flushing money down the interest drain.

Actually, buying a house can be a good kind of debt, just as long as you don't overextend yourself with the monthly payments. It will be nice to be able to decide what to do with our money rather than our bills dictate what to do with it.
