I read in this morning's paper that Ernestine Gilbreth Carey passed away at age 98. Have any of you ever read the books she co-authored with her brother, "Cheaper By the Dozen" and "Belles on Their Toes"? They were the basis for the Cheaper by the Dozen movies and were based on them growing up with their large family during the 1920s. I've read these books many times, because they were childhood favorites. It makes me a little sad to think that this entire family will soon be gone.

If not you can buy inexpensive copies on ebay. That's what I did, because my original copies were destroyed when our basement flooded. I think you'll like the books. I wonder how many other people never realized that the movies were based on books. I will admit that the earlier movie starring Clifton Webb was much more like the book than the newer version was. They sort of updated it a bit from the original.

I was not aware of the movie being based on books either. I suppose most movies are based on books. That is sad that Ernestine Gilbreth passed away. Thank you for sharing that information with us and may look for the books myself.
