I have broken the same ankle three times. they have finally come to the conclusion that I need surgery to fix the tendons and ligaments in my foot as I keep having sprains and breaks in the same area. (really did it take a rocket scientist to figure that out) that is all I have ever broken, however I have sprained my wrist and have had many pulled muscles. I was a dancer and cheerleader in high school so I was pron to injuries. How about you.

I broke my right thumb when I was like 10 years old. That same year I sprained my left wrist. When I was 12 I did something to my right ankle.. I'd gotten into a bike accident and flipped my bike, my foot ended up in the spokes and had to be cut out with bolt cutters. There was just too much going on at the time, my Godfather was in the ICU and was dying, so I never went to a doctor for my foot. My mom thought it would be okay. I should have seen a doc though, to this day it will just twist on me for no reason at all. I just walk along and boom, down I go cuz the ankle just twisted and gave out. Most of the time it's okay, just hurts for a few minutes. Sometimes it hurts bad for a few days though. The last time I hurt it bad was when the twins were little, I needed people to stay and help me for the weekend while hubby worked. That was all that ever happened to me. I have pretty strong bones. My husband shattered his left elbow when he was 13. It needed staples and pins and all sorts of wonderful things! It's still not 100% right, he can't touch that shoulder and he doesn't have much feeling in that arm. So far none of my kids have broken anything, which surprises me. They're all so active. My oldest, aside from being an athlete, also likes to see how high he can climb a tree! Crazy child. He's needed stitches quite a few times, but never a broken bone... yet!

OUCH that sounds painful. You can get some great ankle braces at target and Wal-Mart. I am wearing one till I have the surgery. I have ankle instability due to the tearing of my tendon and well the fact that my ligaments are a big ole JOKE.. but I am not the one laughing. Mine does the same as you explained above. I can be walking in tennis shoes on flat service and all the sudden I take a step and there is no foot there to step on (that is what happened in November) what the ortho told me is that the weaker it gets the bigger chance I have of breaking it and making it worse. I hope I can make it till the fall before I harm it again.. Douglas likes to see how high he can jump from.. he has broken his thumb (his brother closed it in the van door) JM has had two stitches and Kalie nothing. Oh JM and Doug both have had their head glued (something they do to head wounds now instead of stitches) I know with two boys and with one being a dare devil I have simply only started my trips to the er. Thank you for your response.

wow, that ankle of yours, it's really unlucky :P... hmm i have broken the my tiny foot toe, I slip on a wet floor and my little toe just crashed very hard against the corner of the wall with it taking all my body weight, till now that's the only one broken bone i have incurred, but three times at the same place must be very painful, i would suggest you better take good care of it, coz it may cause weakness at older age, trust me! all the best and have a happy and safe cheer leading in the future :)

The weakness is why I have broken it so many times. I can be walking on a flat road, put my foot down and it roll, resulting in a break or serious sprain. That is what happened the last time I got hurt. We are going to do surgery in the fall, they are going to do a graft to replace the tendon and another to replace my ligaments. I will have three to six screws put in and maybe a partial plate. What fun..

wow, so sad to hear that. I take a look at my whole body, luckily, there is none, no bone fracture at all. maybe vitamin D will do good to your fragile bones, pal.

I take vitamin D supplements as well as drink tons of milk. It was a very bad break when I was in high school and it has not been the same.
