how do you decide on a new shrink?

for the 2nd time in like 2-3 years i am having to switch shrinks and both times the doctor i had i had had for years so i grew very trusting and fond of them.. im crushed that again another one retiring and scared on having to again look for a new one.. i mean i am used to going to new docs all the time but this one is in charge of mental meds which makes me paranoid i will get some psycho that will over medicate me or be judgmental etc.. so do you like look at the ratings online for shrinks or something in choosing? i know last time i changed it took a month of calling to find one because it seemed no one took my insurance or they all had moved or wouldnt return calls.. any tips on how to get a good fit in finding a new shrink? i wouldnt even go to one but other docs are leery in prescribing some meds that i need (bipolar/add/etc)
