Any Body's Game, People Without knowing the background of a boy or a Girl Watching on TV And Getting married Could Land You In Deep Trouble , I Feel............ You Should Know AtLeast Something positive of that person From SomeBody, You Cant marry an Actress Just Because Shes Hot, Looks GooD On Tv. Come On Its Once in A Life time Union. You Got to take More Care.......

Hi drdivu, I do not believe in the concept of swayamber at all, neither do I wish to have one ;) I fully agree with you that you cannot know the real person this way.A lot may be concealed from you and you may find yourself in trouble later on.I think this Rakhi Sawant swayamber thing is just another show to hike trps of the channel.Soon after the show gets over, you will probably hear that she has ditched the man!Hehehehe... ;)

Hi dreamhealer, Swayamvara is a concept that was prevalent in ancient India. It is a practice of choosing a life partner among a list of suitors by a girl of marriageable age. In this practice the girl's father decides to conduct the Swayamvara of the daughter at an auspicious time and venue, and broadcasts the news of this to the outside world.Kings, typically used to send messengers to outside lands whereas commoners arranged to spread the news within the local community. On the appointed day and venue,a list of suitors arrive at the girl's home and ask for her hand. The girl and her family get to choose among the suitors, sometimes through evaluating the completion of various tasks assigned. When the girl identifies the husband of her choice, she garlands him and a marriage ceremony is held immediately. This very age-old concept is being utilized by a popular channel in India where the famous Bollywood item girl Rakhi Sawant will select her life partner from among prospective grooms in a much-hyped reality television show. The men put through a series of challenges that will test their personality, character, physical fitness, talent and also their compatibility with Rakhi. Finally we will get to see the wedding celebrations in all its glory from the Mehendi to the Sangeet and culminating in a real-life wedding for Rakhi with the groom that she has chosen. Hope I have been able to explain the concept to you.Do post a comment if you are satisfied with my answer. Thanks and happy myLotting!

Yes, thanks for the explanations. I guess that swayamber would probably be better than match on TV. But really, situations where the male and female involved are able to take the maximum choice, after some courtship is probably the best. But I guess that each culture is different, so that one way is not necessarily better than the other!
