A recent Tech article I read stated some 10 manufacturers of cellphones had agreed to implement a mini USB charging port on their phones soon, hopefully effectively ending the increasing collection of incompatible power supply units that are cluttering up your cupboards and drawers! (Unfortunately,it didn't state exactly WHEN these new phones will be available on the Market..!)How do You feel about this idea and your current PSU collection? The trophies of your search for a better phone? the price you paid for not being brand loyal? Share!

I'd reccommend Taking a look on the phone accessories sites and ebay for new power connection options for your current phone-I have an older but still servicable Nokia, from which I upgraded to the Samsung as I wanted to have a camera phone-for emergencies,(Or when I run out of batteries!)I got myself a dynamo powered LED flashlight-it has FM radio built in,and the dynamo will also charge a Nokia Cellphone with a supplied accessory cable!

I also read that article and certainly it would be welcome by all the mobile phone users. I remember, a relative of mine had left her Vodafone phone's charger at her house and I had to scout for the charger from shop to shop, but in vain.
However, I also read in the article that the manufacturers will think twice before doing so as they earn a lot from the accessories which is unique only to that manufacturer. Let's hope that it will be done soon and surely make life easier for people.

I got a USB adapter cable for My Samsung phone-If I'm travelling anywhere,I can bring it along with a mains to USB adapter,or get access to someone's free USB port wherever I go and be able to charge it up..I also have a car type 12V to USB socket for when driving. It'd be good to have just one type of power supply to avoid something like that situation you described!

Hey,
That would be actually quite good if they would do that, it would allow everyone to reduce all their different type of charging docks and everything. I think that this is a pretty good idea, I can't wait. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

I read then that the Chinese manufacturers wanting to get more exposure for their phones were also working on this idea...

I saw an interesting looking new cellphone on Ebay the other day from Hong kong, and as I'm thinking of upgrading soon, put in what turned out to be the winning bid for it..shortly after,I got an email from the seller apologising that He'd heard reports of a problem with the Phone's USB charger from previous buyers, and as a safety precaution,He wasn't sending out any more for a month until they had checked out the problem..I replied if it had a USB charger and there was no problem with the phone, just send me the phone as I'd be able to charge it from the computer..then I got another email saying the USB charger was proprietary and was wired differently to regular USB plugs,so wouldn't charge with a regular USB cable! He was offering Me a full refund if I didn't want to wait a month..I didn't,If I had to wait for them to iron out bugs before they'd send it,and it wasn't compatible with regular USB..sounds like a problem waiting to happen! .so I got the money refunded..
