I used to sell mary kay, but with the downturning economy, no one had the money to spend on it. I have thought about selling Avon, but I don't really know what the earning potential is. How much does it really cost to start up, and what ways can you market it. I know that with MK, I couldn't market my stuff at all, lest I take business from someone else, it was totally word of mouth. I put an ad on craigslist one time, and actually got a letter from the MK legal department.

Avon is like anything else, you get out of it what you put into it. I've been selling avon for 8+ years. I'm not going to get rich but I make a little money and keep myself and family stocked. I make sure I make presidents club every year, that way I make a certain % no matter what the size of my order is.
Avon also has policies about how we are allowed to market and distribute our products. We aren't divided into territories around here anymore, but there are still rules.

New Reps make 40% for the first 4 campaigns on orders of $50 or more submitted online and on time. Starting with the 5th campaign you have to order $25 or more worth of product at make at least 20%. We can make higher percentages as we have bigger orders.

i sold avon for 10 years many years ago and i found that christmas was the best time to sell avon. i always did well then. my friend took over my clients for me and she has about 100 customers and does quite well with avon, but it just depends on how much you want to put into it. when i started it was free, but i dont think it is anymore.
