Typhoid Fever

One and a half ago, my friend came down with typhoid fever. After that the doctor told she to take it easy because she might catch it again. Well, he was right, because she ignored his advice and ended up being hospitalized twice with the same illness. Is there any way to stop the illness from coming back, because right now she is swamped with campus activities ? Is there any medicine to totally eliminate it ? All info are welcoming, Thanks !

First, let me tell you what is a typhoid fever= a disease where can be contracted from ingestion of food or water contaminated with feces from an infected person. In short this is a human to human infection. This can be treated by fluoroquinolone such as ciprofloxacine, or cephalosporin like ceftriaxone or cefotaxime or cefixime as an alternative oral meds...Also, there are two vaccines use for prevention such as the oral Ty21a vaccine (vivotif berna) and the injectable typhoid polysaccharide vaccine (typhim vi by Sanof Pasteur and typherix by GlaxoSmithKline).....BUT THE BEST WAY TO PREVENT IS TO LISTEN TO WHAT THE DOCTORS Will SAY/ ADVICE, ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION AND MOST OF ALL PROPER HYGIENE....PLUS, THOUGH FRIENDS ARE FRIENDS, STILL, IT IS NOT PROPER TO SHARE ONE SPOON/ FORK, PLATES AND GLASSES.....IN SHORT USE YOUR OWN THINGS......and thats' it, nobody will get infected. Another, is please avoid eating outside your home, better to cook your own food and make sure that you cook it properly and prepare all things in your most cleanest way. Well, hope this will help you in some way.

Hi there! Typhoid fever is caused by salmonella bacteria found in human feces. It is transmitted from human to human or in foods digested and water we drink contaminated by the bacteria. Good hygiene is the best prevention from getting typhoid fever. Wash hands properly before eating and cleanliness in the household and environment. Prepare foods properly making sure you've cleaned and cooked it well. Your friend could have gotten it from water cause that's commonly where disease comes from so I suggest don't drink tap water yet until cleared of the disease. But it's best to drink mineral or distilled water with or without the disease. I'm not sure if there are vaccines available for adults. I know vaccines for babies are available. Maybe ask the doctor to be sure. Hope that helps. Ciao!

Wow. that is terrible. I hope that your friend will be okay and will follow the doctors advice from now on. I do not know anything about it other than hearing the name of it before. I hope there is some good medication out there for your friend.

Since she has already got it once, it's hard to stop the illness from coming back.. BEcause the virus is already in her system, and since her body system is not able to fight it well, there's a high likely hood wherevy she might get it again, if she dun take care of herself.. PLus, she needs more rest now to recover completely.. SO if she were to resume all her campus activities, she's bound to get it again.. Maybe what she can do is to cut down on those unnecessarily activites and be drinking more water, and taking of medication on time..
