I grew up collecting stuffed animals or as I call them stuffies. I still have some from when I was young. My oldest one is a brown bear that my Dad gave me for Christmas when I was 16…which makes it 25 years old. I have ones that Hubby has bought me, my Mom has bought me, ones I’ve gotten on special trips and so on. The most important ones are on our headboard b/c I like having them around me. I’ve thought about putting them away but somehow they are like friends to me. I do have a big tub filled with other ones that I just can’t bear to part with.
BTW, the pic posted isn’t mine collection but just a pic I found online.
Do you still have stuffies? Do you keep them packed away or displayed? Do you think they are cute or childish? How old is your oldest one?

I used to have some old teddy bears. The old ones. There was a fire and they got burned. My daughter had alot of rather cool stuffies. My grandson has some that he refuses to get rid of. They just take up space and he doesn't even use them. He refuses. They are cute. We have them out all over.

I finally had to get rid of most of mine. We moved to a much smaller place and had no room for them. I had stuffed animals and dolls many of which were at least 50 years old. But I had no place to keep them any longer. I had one favorite little dog which I got when I was three and having eye surgery. I remember about 8-10 years later my mother tried to throw it away cause it was worn out but I rescued it and kept it till just a few years ago.I still miss it.

We have two bears in our bedroom. Mine is one my kids convinced me to drive them an hour and a half to get, from a gift shop at my favorite garden center. The kids picked it out when I was plant shopping and the next week, when they had their allowance, they pooled it and told me they wanted to get me a Mother's Day gift. My bear is wearing a pink and white sweater that says "I love Mom". I spent a couple of years looking for a fuzzy blue teddy bear for hubby. His dad threw his out when they moved when he was seventeen, because it was not manly. I finally found one. I am sure it is not like the original, which would have been purchased in 1946, but it is the thought that counts.

I have lots of "stuffies" and most of them are displayed in my living room or in my bedroom. My boyfriend hates it because the teddy bears look like they are taking over the house! lol ... He always teases me saying he's gonna bbq them and I tell him to go ahead but I am going to bbq his Dale Earnhardt stuff as well.
My oldest one would have to be 23 years old and it's a big fancy bear in a red dress that looks like from the 1950's. I've had her since I was 8 years old and she actually remained in the box until about 3 years ago when my oldest daughter ripped the box off her.

I haven't worked out how to put a photo on a discussion or response yet. It's not something I wanted to do until now.
If you look at my photos in my profile you will see a picture of my very first cuddly, his name is Growler and he is over 50 but still well loved.
Another thing I need to learn, will it never end.

I collected some unusual animals when I worked in a preschool because we used them in story sacks. I also made some. I even made a little possum for a Barney story as well as peacocks. People loved to give my mom stuffed toys as she got older. She had some really unique ones including a meerkat. I got rid of my biggest one, a giraffe my first hubby gave me on the first birthday I had while we were dating. It was Geoffry Giraffe from Toys R Us, because Larry was nicknamed giraffe.I took him to college with me.I have them allover the house, but do not do much with them. I visualize getting a spare room set up and displaying all of my toys.

I love stuffed animals. I rather get a stuffed animal than flowers. My oldest stuff I got when i was a year and a half , so he is over 40 years old, to be exact I would have to do some math. I have so many that they are in storage bins.My favs are in a bin in my closet, the rest are in storage. I have a stuffed, otter that is live -like. I also have a purple octopus. All of them have names . Thankfully I have a log so I can remember all the names.I haven't bought a stuff in a long time.I think it is time for a stuff.

Awww, yeh, I still have some too. I actually started collecting them about 10 years ago. I have some Boyd's Bears, Skunks, Bunnies, Crows...all stuffed animals. I haven't bought any in a long time. They are displayed on top of an old trunk that was my Mom's from when she was little. At Christmas they are the center of attraction and I have Christmas lights around them. I probably have about 20-25 all sitting on top of the trunk so I guess you can say I'll never grow up. The oldest one is over 40 years old, it was my Nephew's little Black Bear when he was tiny.

It's so nice that you still have all these stuffies! Mother had to get rid of all of mine because I had a lot of allergies. I don't know what she did with all of them. When I was a child, I had stuffies on a shelf above the window in my bedroom. I even had a teddy bear I named after Elvis Presley, lol
. I used to sleep with him. He had a song called "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear" and that's what I did literally.
I also had another teddy bear I named after another favorite singer of mine, Johnny Burnette.
Have you ever heard of him? Not many people have. He wasn't very well known. I plan to do a discussion on him one of these days. Kathy.

I, too , collected stuffed animals, and my sister collected dolls. We had a book shelf where we would display them all; we, too, were able to add a new one to our collections, when we went on vacation; I had many different ones, and truthfully have no idea what happened to them. I did give away the huge ones, when I became a teen, only because they took up so much space on my bed, and took too much time to unmake my bed in the evenings. It would be such a big procedure - I had to line them up one by one all around the floor....lol
Since then, I have saved my sons first stuffed animal, and my grandson's first stuffed animal so they can have it for their child one day.

I have a few stuffies on display (and Norwegian trolls, too!) but hubby has more than I do. I didn't have any when I was young, just a very ratty hand-me down teddy bear that was too ugly to bond with. So after I got grown up they seemed childish for a while, but then when I got beyond the age of caring, I realized they were cute. The oldest one I still have is 44. It is a huge Tigger from Pooh that I bought at Disneyland, very old materials, but still cute and pretty clean, considering.

Hey twoey! I unfortunately have thrown most of mine out through
the years! I moved alot as a kid so I don't have any from
way back. And I have been in my apartment for 29 years now
and have been given different ones from X-boyfriends who I
have also thrown out even though some of them were very cute
and it was hard to get rid of! But, the memories were sometimes
very bad and I had to throw them out! So now I only have some
of my own that I bought myself in the last few years and
the few that my present boyfriend has bought me. I have a
special collection of mini beanie babies that I really love!
My boyfriend made me put most of my stuffed animals away
because when I had the apartment painted last year he said
there was too much clutter around! So now all I have out is
the 2 teddys he bought me!

I love stuffies but I had to give away most of them because I didn't know where to put them anymore.
For a while I had my whole bedroom wall full of them.
I just put a thumb tack in the ear or tail and hung them on the wall.
Boy did they get dusty after a while.
Now I just have a few bears left which one my mom gave me about 10 years ago.
He'is handmade and she brought him from Germany. I also have a couple that I got from work and they to cute to give away

OMG yes I do have some. I cant help but get them sometimes. My oldest one is the bear I had since I was born. Ive been trying to get rid of some things I dont need which means some stuffies also. But some I just cant bear to part with either. Especailly this Hulk Hogan bear I got from when I went to my first wwf wrestling event. It was a great day.
