Gidget, the beloved Chihuahua from the Taco Bell commercials from 1997-2000 that was known for saying "Yo quiero Taco Bell" -- Spanish for "I want Taco Bell." Since she had a male voice on the commercials, most people assumed she was a male dog. Also, Gidget was the co-star in "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde." She didn't do bad considering that she was rescued from the pound & went on to fame fortune. I didn't realize that she was so old. 15 is old for a dog which is the equivalent of 105 in human years. I had hoped that Taco Bell would bring her back for another run of commercials. Sadly that won't be happening now!!!
Do you have any memories of Gidget that you care to share???

No memories, other than the commercial but that is old for a Chihuahua, so she had along life.
They usually use male dogs (Lassie was always male) so I am shocked it was a female. Live and learn.
Little Gidget is in Heaven with all the other earth angels (what I call animals).

In my younger days I had 2 Dobermans & would love to have another!!! I also had a Toy Manchester Terrier that looked like a Mini Pin except the ears & tail weren't cropped. He was much more protective than the Dobermans!!!

I didn't realize she was that old. Fifteen years for a dog is a long life. I didn't see the movie "Legally Blonde" but do remember the cute Taco Bell commercials. Taco Bell was giving away tiny, stuffed animals of Gidget and I was able to get one. This was several years ago. Still have it and it sits on a dresser in one of the extra bedrooms next to pictures of our grandkids.

I think that 15 is considered very old for a Chihuahua. She was very pampered. After her retirement, it seems that all she did was bask in the sun for hours on end!!! I, too, hopes your little guy makes it to 15!!!

She was SO cute!!! That was one commercial I would actually watch instead of fast forwarding past it as I usually do.
I think more animals should be rescued from the pound like this. Have you seen Beverly Hills Chihuahua? That was a wonderful movie! I see about one movie in the theater a year and that was it for the past year.

No matter what I was doing, I ALWAYS stopped to watch the Taco Bell commercials!!! I've not seen "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" yet. I just no longer go to the movies...opting for Netflix so I can watch in the comfort of my own home. That way I can scream at the screen if I feel the urge or I can stop it while I take a pee break. PLUS popcorn & a Coke doesn't cost $5.00!!!

I can only say that I love the taco bell commercials, and that yes, I believe the dog had a super great life, I am going to read the news after posting this, but I believe her commercials are the most quoted at home.
Thanks for sharing the info.
