Hi All, Brown Bread is much more healthier than the White Bread. My friend run a bakery He told me that while making white bread they remove the bran and germ (skin of wheat) completely than they add some chemicals to make it rich like potassium salt moreover sometime under the pressure of law they have to spray some extra vitamins in the dough to make it right for the test under the laboratory condition. Often Brown Bread is considered healthy. is this true.?

Absolutely. Refined flour is just the carbohydrates, you might as well eat cardboard. A lot of the nutrients are in the germ. Also there are some nutrients in the bran, but it also gives you bulk to keep things moving in your colon. White flour is not only nutrient deficient, it acts like clay to bung up your digestive system.

By the way it is not brown bread that is healthy, as some bakers just add molasses or colour to white bread to make it look brown. It is whole wheat or whole grain that is healthier. Most foods that are highly processed have been sterilized of nutrients.

So I guess it means because brown bread is less processed most nutrition is kept within it. I always find eating wholewheat bread or brown rice keeps me full for longer, whereas I feel hungry very soon if I just has some white loaf for lunch. In other words, brown bread provides steady energy release whereas white bread burns out quicker (but it helps to raise blood sugar quicker as well). So in terms of healthy eating style brown bread is probably better choice.
