I don't think any child should be pulled from something at an age, but more when they seem ready to do so. I am a mother of 3 children-ages 9, 6, and 22 months. My youngest is still on a sippy cup, and probably will be for a while. I do offer him a regular cup at the table with meals though-but never to drink in any other room, in the car, or at other people's homes.

She really shouldn't be on sippy cup anymore only because I am sure it isn't good for her teeth and mouth formation at her age now. Is she in school? Does she take cups to school or her day care? Have you talked with her doctor or dentist about this? (Or other parents?)

Sippy's are great to have when you have kids in a car or at someone else's house,Kids of any age really since spills happen often
..but then again it depends on the sippy also. Not alot of kids want to be seen with a sippy meant for a 3 year old. It is best to just use regular sports bottles or the ones with straws. But if it is a child in the home..according to the nanny show sippy's should be a no no. But we all are guilty of using them. I still use sports bottles occasionally since my sister does spill everything if it is in a cup, don't ask me how..but there is always a "uh oh".
.before she gets through drinking it even if she stays in one spot. Some parents have carpets and rather give their kids the sippy/sports bottles to have less spills which means less stains and mess on carpets. But really just use our own judgment..Do you feel the child is ready for a regular cup? Is the child a spiller? I am not going to be nanny and say "Sear that is what paper towels we made for"..lol but if you can keep them still long enough to use the cup then I say go for using the cup if you don't care to clean a few spills up once n awhile...remember keep paper towels on hand and alot of patience.
..lol

Oh ok..didn't know it if was your daughter or the kids you sometimes babysit with. Well, as I said..I do give my 8 year old sister a sports bottle or a regular bottle that once had flavored water like propel..good bottles to reuse since they are sturdy..but it is always good to add a little bleach and water and swish around in any kind of bottles we can't get our hands in because of the germs and bacteria. Well, the she more she drinks out of the cups and is cautioned to be careful and always place on a flat surface when she setting it down not close to legs or feet..lol then it should be okay for her to use the cups as much as possible..best thing is to take her to store let her choose her own small cup and she will be delighted with it and want to drink out of it all the time..We did that with little sis and she chose a Dora plastic glass and she only wanted to drink out of it..but at my house I don't have one for her..so it is sports bottles, water bottles and a plastic 10 ounces tumbler glass in her favorite color yellow. Which are 4 for $1

All 3 of my kids were around a year old when they started drinking from sippy cups. I gave them to them around 10 months old but they didn't really know what to do with it. My son was able to drink out of a straw pretty early so we got him a sippy cup with a straw. So of the three he probably was the earliest to drink out of a sippy cup.

Well with sippy's it is difficult to decide when they should go on regular cups. My daughter is almost 2 and she still uses a sippy cup she dose try to use a regular cup. I figure once she dose not want the sippy anymore then I wont give it to her. my cousin used a sippy till he was 5. It depends on how patient you are with spills. Also whene they are ready to give it up. I hope this helps you.
