Toronto Garbage Strike Is Over!

I just want to let out the good news if you didn't already know fellow Torontonians is that The strike is officially over! We can finally go back on the ferry, go back to community centers, and most important throw away all our garbage! I feel the union has put the citizens at hostage and effectively ruin our reputation permanently, as a journalist from the United States put us on a warning list of countries not to travel to, which included Baghdad and some other cities at war. I feel more angry at the Mayor for letting the strike go on for over a month, as he really doesn't care for the city as his term is terminating in the coming months. The worst thing that could happen is for the people living near the temporary dump sites. I am gladly lucky I didn't have to look out my window to see the garbage and inhale the toxic fumes. Last, I would love to say I'm still mad at the union because they wanted something that is beyond fair. They were not fighting for wages, no sir, with their average union worker making $25/hour, but for a banking 18 sick days. What the 18 sick days is that they can cash out the sick days into cash when they retire, and it that the sick day roll over every year. So if I am never sick and work 20 years, when i retire I get a whole year's worth of pay for doing nothing! I am disgusted at this because sick days are for being sick, not for being about to make money off of it. What are your takes on this 35 day strike, and if your city had a strike like this what do you think you would do?

Hi bluesinjid, I am very happy to hear that the strike is finally over. I spent two weeks in Toronto while the strike was on and I saw some of the affect that it had. I won't comment on who was at fault or any of these things because I don't know enough about it. I'm sure however that the people who live in Toronto must be breathing a sigh of relief that it's finally over. Blessings.
