Well, this is pretty much a bothersome for a long time..It was a problem because the other side of my ear has small hole for for the ear cannal allowing the cotton buds to get in.in the process, i end up pushing the ear wax way way back near or almost near the ear drum. finally, it started hurting and the doctor saw thick wax inside..he gave me prescription drugs that soften the wax and when got a few big ones, i thought it was gone..but the doctor was able to TOOK a lot, I was like Wow!.this was a year ago. then, 2 days ago later I was able to take a few myself and i didn't realize how big it was until screw it up with the cotton buds. but now it hurts a bit..and my other side as well is getting a lot more too but the ear canal was so small for the buds. uhmm...doctor is not an option for me now cause we don't have the budget and not that serious.. Some did make a discussions on ear problem and some recommended something that i almost forgot. PS: i tried paper and hair clips. which i stopped a month.. What do i do????Disgusting??? sorry but it's a real problem to me.

Hello, My kids used to have this problem before and all I did was using a small metal that for ear. i wrapped up with a little cotton and then try to take ear wax out. You can buy this at Chinese store Or Vietnamese store, ask for ear cleaner (I am sorry, that I dont know the name of it but this is the best I can give you, and this material is metal and a little ban at the end, really small that can fit with any type of ear(

You tried paper clips? Ouch! Didn't that hurt? And what kind of hair clips are you talking about here? When I need to remove ear wax I usually just grab a (small) bobby pin and go to town on my ears! Ahhh, that's the ticket! LOL Feels pretty damn good too and it works a lot better than a Q-tip, that's for sure! Maybe it will work for you too. Though if not, hopefully you can find something that does because ear wax buildup can be quite irritating, to say the least. Good luck!

PS I forgot to add that if you do go with this method, please take care not to go too far in as you could cause serious injury to yourself.

tip your head to the side and pour a bit of hydrogen peroxide in and let it sit. then upright your head and let the fluid run out into paper towel. it usually will clear the wax out.depending on how bad,you may have to refill it a couple of times.

you know, no budget at that time, and the q-tips were the only solution then. well, it did and some liquids coming out.

hehe what you described was not disgusting but the heavy ear waxed Q tip... :-p Hmm can you just leave the ear alone for a while and let the dirt come out by itself? Iunderstand the itch though... but too bad that the more you dig, the deeper it gets into... I don't know what I could suggest but I hope you feel better soon!

Come on! do not neglect this ear wax problem.I had the same problem both wax and hole in the ear drum. Never try to clean the wax yourself. I was careless till one day i had my entire side of the face paining like hell and had to rush ro the doctor who used the finest of words in scolding me. I had the wax removed and also had to go for a tymphanic surgery as the bones behind the ear had rotted due to negligence. It was a major surgery for 4 hours and some bones and tissues were removed due to the infection created by the wax which was pushed inside. The hole was stiched but if i had gone on time i could have had it grafted which is a minor surgery. Now i have audio problem with that ear and the sound decibals heard is decreasing day by day. So do not neglect the problem and rush to the doctor who will do the needful because the tymphanic membrane and tissues are a part of the brain and when disturbed will cause giddiness throughout your life. The liquid in the ear when creates imbalance the person starts falling down from time to time. I am not scaring you but just a word of caution. Happy mylotting:)

You were....right..and not only it's horribly painful, they were a few blood when i tried to use the q-tips to let the liquid out. and probably some liquid is still inside the ear canal.that's stupid, i don't want to have a small surgery for my ear..that's horrible, I already got a teeth problem, but i got an ear problem now. .AAhhhhhhhhh!

Have you tried an ear candle? Some say it doesn't really work, and other swear by them. I think you can get them at health stores. Ones specifically for vitamins, health supplements...

Oh no, you've got the wrong idea. It wouldn't burn you. I've seen them try it out on a talk show, on one of the hosts. It worked on her. They opened the candle afterward and showed the wax that came out of her ear. Apparently the smoke in the kind of candle they make draws the wax out.

I whole heartedly agree with mtdewgurl74. This is not only good to get rid of the ear wax but to maintain a clean ear. You should never us ear buds or any other instrument beyond the outer area of the ear. Also be careful in using any wash in the ear if the eardrum has been perforated. How about calling your doctor's office and talking to the nurse or physician's assistant for some at home remedies for this.

I think that consequences is getting more severe. some how my ear went a little numb i think it's an infection now on the cannal because they were some little blood and some liquid flowing out, and some remain inside too. why go, when i can just go. i just start mylot early.

My husband had the same problems few months before. His ear started paining very badly. The doctor found thick wax inside his ear. He placed a surgical camera (I don't know the exact name), a pipe-shape instrument that can easily pass inside the ear and showed on a computer the amount of wax inside . The doc said that it cannot be removed immediately as it is hard. He prescribed ear drops to liquefy it. After a week, the doc removed the wax by passing hot liquid in his ear. It seems thats how it can be cleaned. But my husband said that is was not painful at all. I think hair clips should not be used and do not screw the buds inside the ear as it will further push the wax inside. It becomes more difficult to take it out. Try keeping your ears clean by vising the doc once in 6 months. I feel this is the only option.
