who would you hold responsible?

I think the sad piece here is that the police are not recognizing the responsibility of the adults and are now saying this driver also has to be responsible for passengers who forget their children. I think it is the parents fault who left their sleeping baby in the back of the cab. Boston hack almost takes blame for forgotten child http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090728/ap_on_re_us/us_child_left_in_cab

Parents are solely responsible for their kids. They should be severly reprimanded.

I think if that were to happen here in NY state they'd be investigating the parents and the child would most likely be in foster care, at least for now.

Well at least he only ended up with a warning instead of a three day suspension. But still I feel that it shouldn't b his fault. Although alot of parents are tired and drained and sometimes do forget when they don't hear or see the child. It has happened hundreds of times. I am just glad the child was taken back safely. So maybe it is best to always ask them(the passengers) if they got everything make them do a double check..so they might realize "Hey we almost forgot our kid"

I think the family is by far the most responsible for this oversight and forgetting a baby of all things is inexcusable, but the cab driver too has to take at least some of the responsibility. From what I read in the article, it appears that it's compulsory for cab drivers to check their cabs after every fare and this driver obviously didn't do this thoroughly. Thankfully everything turned out fine in this instance.
