Military Brainwashing

Recently I had gone away to basic training, and for medical reasons I was released and sent home, but during my stay I made a note to look for the "military brainwashing" that everyone talks about, be it your friends, family, or even TV/movies. What I found was not the brainwashing that the movies tells us occurs where they sit you down and force you to watch a video that programs you, but there was defenitly a subtle intonation. We were forced to be awake until 11pm, and up at about 4:40-5 every morning, and as we all know everything seems harder when you're tired. The senior officers were also always doing what they could to be pretty rude, but it's not just to be rude. If you get used to someone talking down to you and barking orders at you, later in your career when seconds equal lives you won't be standing around asking questions, and wasting lives.
All in all I found it to be a bit of a refreshing experience that put a good spin on my life and pushed me towards my wish to finish university, aswell as my drive to do well in my field of study. So while it may not be the a-typical brainwashing, I find I can appreciate and even feel thankful for what little bit there is.
