My daughter wanted her belly button pierced since she was nine, when she was 17 (she's 21 now) she talked me into going with her when she got it done and that's not all she talked me into! She said she would pay for mine to get done if I went with her, I wanted her to wait until she was 18, she got it done before she was 18 *this was 6 mos. before she turned 18 so I didn't see what the big deal would be* I told her yes, I'd do it too if she didn't cry, flinch, make any kind of noise that it was painful and if it looked like it hurt, I wasn't doing it. The whole time it was being done, she was looking at me, smiling. She didn't jump, flinch, yell or cry so I thought ok, I can do this! It was my turn....I yelled a couple cuss words, almost flew off the table, kicked the guy that did the piercing (not on purpose) I guess she wanted hers done bad enough that it didn't hurt her? She said she didn't move because she knew if she did, I'd chicken out. Have you ever done anything at the spur of the moment that your kids wanted to do with you that didn't seem to bother them but did you? Could you be talked into something like this by your kids? She says it was a bonding issue and she thought it would bring us closer. lol....it brought her closer to me, I made her change chicken mamas piercing the first two times!

That is so kewl, my mom totally wasn't the kind that would do anything like that with me LoL. I wanted her to come with me to the salon once for a new hairstyle/color, my treat, but she was so stuck in her ways and with her old, "regular" hairstyle, she woudln't do it! And c'mon, how painful could it be? LoL..so, you might get a cut or style you aren't particularly found of, but it'll grow out....or you might just love it! I think it is kewl that you did something like that with your daughter. I know many moms who have gotten piercings or even tattoos with thir daughters before, as a bonding thing.

My daughter has always wanted to get hers done too but she never was old enough to get it done here. She is 17 now also and still wants to get it done when she turns 18. I told her she could after she turns 18 and graduates. I would never get mine done though. It isn't because it hurts. I just do not want it. she has not talked me into anything I did not want to do LOL.

I never really thought about getting mine done before the day we went and got it done. She had previously tried doing it herself and I got upset because of all the things that could go wrong if it's in the wrong place and it's not taken care of properly and I made her take it out. It was a kind of neat experience, after it was done we had to drive home, experiencing the 'after burn' and cleaning them, shopping for new belly button rings has given us a little bit of extra time together. My boys don't want involved in any of this! so I have to grab up golf clubs or a baseball gloves to get that kind of time with them.
