It should have came with the disclaimer... "Paid for and Organized by the Committee to Worship the very ground Obama walks on". If that was a "random" audience, Bugs Bunny is real!

What bothered you, Ted? Was it the fact that the people at that town hall meeting discussed health care "like people"? http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2009/08/people_at_obama_town_hall_disc.html "Despite what people may assume, the crowd wasn't staged; 70 percent of attendees were chosen in a random online lottery and the questions were not prescreened. Even when Obama actively sought out questions from people who were critical of health-care reform, they were polite and civilized." Do you have a problem with "polite and civilized"? If, say 90% of the attendees aren't screaming at the President or calling him names is that proof to you the meeting was "staged"? Would you prefer it if the President had been treated with the same "in your face" disrespect Arlen Specter got in my own state of Pa. yesterday? I know that display made me real proud...NOT!! I sure have no problem with people having differing views but why can't we at least act like mature adults and treat each other with respect? I'm not saying Senator Specter or President Obama are "better" than you or me but that nobody deserved to be treated like a piece of dirt and shouted down and drowned out. Annie

What bothered me is that is was a total and complete farce. The 11 year old girl who asked the question has already been exposed as a plant. If it was so "Random" why did no one who disagrees with this bill? It bothers me that Obama lied through his teeth. If this isn't a take over of medical, why does this bill dictate so many things that have nothing to do with coverage? Of course no one showed any disrespect, there wasn't anyone right of center in the entire room. Like everything else about Obama, this was nothing but smoke, mirrors and lies. Shame on the coward Obama for hiding behind his 11 year old human shield. If a Republican did that, everyone would be (rightfully) crying foul. It's simple, Obama and his worshippers consider him god, and anyone who questions him blasphemous.

btw, MOST of the town hall meetings have gone off without incident. I don't know about other places, but here in Wisconsin the incompetent press has left the "boring" Town Hall meetings in search of one where there were problems.

All the poles I've heard about have more people disagreeing with the way Obama is handling healthcare reform. All the poles seem to indicate that people do not want the currently proposed plan. And for whatever reasons are causing people to stray from Obama, that's moot for now. If you were taking people at random to put into Obama's press conference, there would have to be quite a few people who disagreed. From what I can tell, his talking points received major applause and many cheers. His partisan lines went off beautifully. I don't understand how that happens with opposition in the crowd. And if there was no opposition, then it has to be staged. I realize the liberal, Obama-love bubble seems all-encompassing to those living within it, but it's really not. But why the hoax? Most of these politicians, especially on the left, seem unable to take criticism without having to claim that their tactics are now in play on the other side. So that would explain the hoax. Show Obama with NO ONE disagreeing and dissenters suddenly look like the fringe. 101 -- doesn't that kind of look like "lol"? LOL! The joke's on us. Dissent, loud or not, is an American right, right? When loons shouted down Palin's acceptance speech, I don't recall an outcry. The used to bust in on Bush II too. Anyway, it's all a bit fishy. According to the committed left, no one disagrees except the radical fringe. But according to various poles and regular Americans, that's not even close to being true. Who's lying and why?

He he, this whole thing was about as New Hampshirian as cactus and tumbleweeds. I watched the event, many of those in there weren't even from new hampshire, quite a few came in from that little facist republic to our south, nothing new, they have been invading and interloping in this state for years, we deal with it. Something the country needs to understand... the southern tip of new hampshire, ya know, that little part that everyone sees on the news, those two or 3 cities that all the candiates vist? are NOT the real new hampshire, most of us consider most of that area to be just an extension of northern Mass. Yeh, we have a democratic governor and a lot of democrats in our legislature, but it is still a very different world up here, the rest of the country just does not get a real feel for the state in the media, it is much more nuanced and the perspective is very different than most seem to understand.

We have the same problem here in Wisconsin. Madison and Milwaukeea are very liberal, but the rest of the state is pretty even between liberal, conservative, moderate and apathetic. The liberals in Madison hide away in their pro Che Quevera fog, and act like either the rest of the state doens't exist or we are just a bunch of dairy farmers who need to be looked after by them.

Yup, I've been playing for 12 years, teaching about 4, and now I'm a musician looking for a band. Glad you got something from my comments on electronic tuners.

None of these have actually had random audiences. They are told who can attend and what they can ask. It would be nice for him to get up in front of a random crowd who was allowed to ask whatever questions were on their mind, without screening them first! But then he could not read off his pre-determined answers off of his cheat sheets, could he??

I doubt the audience was random. However, even if there were a fair amount of irate conservatives present, can you imagine the Secret Service jumping all over anyone who would get all up in Obama's face. Not a pretty picture. On content: I wanted to grab the TV and scream, "Read the bill, Mr. President!!"

No i do not think that it was a random audience either. I did not watch the entire thing but it seamed like it was more staged than some of the other town meetings that i have seen.
