Why is it that....

... the work of some writers are refused even by online self-publishing sites such as Triond just based on the writing style. I accepted an assignment to write a list of eight things on a specific topic. My spelling was correct, grammar was correct, but I made a numbered list. I spent a few hours writing the article first by hand before submitting it. However, two different sites rejected it based upon readability. What's so dang difficult about reading a numbered list, seriously?!?!... I've resubmitted it the article as an non-numerical list, but due to the submission sites taking several days to reject the article, it's now passed the deadline for contest participation. SOOOOO very disappointing and frustrating!

I just think it's funny that Triond refused one of my articles because of improper grammar. I cleaned it up and resubmitted it and they published it. But I always see articles now with improper spellings, words omitted, bad grammar and punctuation. I can't help but wonder how those got in when mine was rejected. Perhaps they are getting more lax because they are publishing submissions within a few minutes. Triond says that numbered lists are the most popular and easiest to read. I can't speak for any other sites, especially since you didn't name them, but I am sure Triond would accept your article.

heh.. Triond was one of the two that rejected it. It wasn't a list as in (A) See Jane run. (B) See Richard play ball.. It was a numbered list.. just as a vague example 1. Winters in North Dakota are very cold! This is why - and I cannot express the importance enough - if you plan to travel to North Dakota by motor vehicle, you should be prepared not only for an emergency with your vehicle, but with the weather as well. North Dakota is known for its massive snow and ice storms, and what could possibly be worse than having a flat tire in the middle of nowhere in a blizzard 2. blah blah.. I just don't understand what was so unreadable about that.:/ OMG.. I started to use a D*CK and JANE reference on here and got flagged for using D*CK.. FFS Mylot! That's also a person's name GRRRRRRRRRRRR

I am stunned that Triond rejected it. They seem to accept just about everything these days.

I don't know why they wouldn't accept it if your spelling and grammar were correct. I don't know what would be so hard about reading a numbered list. I don't know why it would be so hard to read, especially if you did it on the computer. After all the hard work and time you put into it, it looks like it would be acceptable. If it were me, I wouldn't give up. I've never been much of a quitter, anyway. Better luck next time. Kathy.

I find it very unusual that your article was rejected for using a list (or numbered) format. I see it done quite often, actually, when someone is listing, for example, the top 10 reasons to visit North Dakota or a similar sort of topic. Without seeing the actual article, it is hard to judge why something is rejected. Can you get any feedback from the sites as to why they rejected it? On sites like Associated Content and Helium, they have forums where you can get advice on these kinds of issues. Anyway, don't let it get you down. All writers face rejection from time to time. We just have to keep on writing. It's hard not to let something like that hurt your feelings or make you mad, but there's another article just waiting to be written! Good luck with your writing!

maybe they only prefer article form. they dont want any numbered lists. i write for triond too. i kept all my articles in article list. the only ones they rejected were one that wasnt unique and i had published it on myspace, another one that was too marketing related. i think bukisa.com takes numbered list kind of form. i am also on bukisa.com. i wrote a numbered list form before. i think it was on bukisa.

Hi Zoey, numbered list goes against the seo techniques of writing. The article sites want readers to come through the search engine, that's why using seo techniques in writing articles is very important. You have to rewrite the articles. Instead of using 1, 2, 3, you can write "the first way to make money is xxx", "the second way to make money is xxx" In this case, the "make money" keywords appear many times in the article. Some writing sites have in-house computation method to predict how "searchable" is the article. The more "searchable" the article, the more likely they will accept the articles. Grammar and spellings are important, but not as important as the seo techniques. That's why many articles with less than perfect spelling and grammar are making more money than those with perfect grammar and spelling.
